Hello，大家好，我是娜塔莉。
今天繼續和大家一起閱讀：「The Power Cut」
Let's review the story first.
The family was going on holiday.
They were taking Biff and Chip.
The children wanted to bring the game station, films and the CD player.
It was a long journey.
They took a rest on the way.
At last they arrived at the cottage.
There was a big television in the front room.
The children played inside.
Suddenly, all the lights went out.
「What if the power doesn't come back on?」 asked Chip.
「We'll have to do without it,」 said Dad.
「Oh, no!」 said the children.
What did they do for fun when the power was off？
What will happen next？

The power didn't come back on.
「It may be off for a long time,」 said Dad.
電沒有回來。
爸爸說：這電也許要停很長時間。
It was time to eat.
吃飯的時間到了。
They all sat round the table and had supper by candlelight.
他們都圍著桌子坐了下來，並借著燭光吃晚餐。
How did the children feel？
Did they feel bored without TV or games?
No, they didn't.
They felt better to get together around the table.
是呀，放下電視和娛樂設備，
一家人安安穩穩的聚在一起吃晚飯，
這比什麼都幸福呢。
It was fun eating in the dark.
在黑暗中吃晚餐很有趣。
What did they do when they were eating?
They took it in turns to tell stories.
in turns 就是 「輪流」 的意思
他們輪流講故事。
What kind of stories did they talk about?
Dad told them a funny story about a time when he was a little boy.
爸爸給他們講了一件他小時候很好笑的事。
It made them all laugh.
（講的事情）把大家都逗笑了。

That night the power didn't come back on.
The children had to use the lamp to go to bed.
那晚電沒有來。
孩子們不得不借著油燈的光上床睡覺。
The children were so happy that they could not go to sleep.
Chip had an idea.
Chip made a shadow on the wall with his hands.
「Guess what it is,」 he said.
Chip 在牆上做手影。
他說：猜猜這是什麼。
Can you make a shadow on the wall?
What can you make?
Wilma shone a torch under her chin.
Wilma 把手電筒放在下巴底下照。
What did she want to do?
The light made her face look scary.
「Whoooh!」 she said. 「I‟m a monster.」
燈光使他的臉看上去很嚇人。
她說：嗚！我是怪物。
Everyone laughed.
每個人都笑了。
Wilma looked scarey and funny.
Then Mum came in and said it was time to go to sleep.
然後媽媽走了進來，她說，該睡覺了。

The next morning there was still no power.
So the family spent all day on the beach.
They played lots of games.
第二天早上還是沒有電。
於是，一家人全天都在海灘上過的。
他們玩了好多遊戲。
「It's late,」 said Mum. 「It‟s time to go.」
媽媽說：天晚了，該走了。
Did the children want to go back home?
No, they didn't.
They wanted to stay a bit longer.
What about the game station, films and the CD player?
They had forgot them.
「Can't we stay a bit longer?」 asked Wilf.
Wilf 問：我們能再呆一會兒嗎？
「I've got an idea,」 said Dad.
「Let's build a fire. We could cook supper.」
爸爸說：我有個主意。
讓我們生一堆火，我們可以做晚飯。
「Brilliant!」 they all shouted.
他們都喊了起來：太棒了！
Horray! It must be funny.
「Let's get some driftwood,」 said Mum.
媽媽說：讓我們弄一些漂來的柴火。
driftwood means wood that the sea carries up onto land
driftwood 浮木
「I'll go and get food,」 said Dad.
爸爸說：我去拿吃的。

It was getting dark by the time the fire was finished.
篝火堆好了，天黑了下來。
「Hey Wilf! That looks like a giant bird's nest,」 said Mum.
「You light it, not lay an egg in it!」
媽媽說：嘿，Wilf！那看起來像個巨大的鳥巢。
你把它點著，不要在裡面下蛋了。
孩子們搭的火堆像極了鳥巢，
That looked like a giant bird's nest.
What did birds do in the next.
Yes, lay eggs.
What would the children do with the "giant bird's nest"?
To make fire.
Dad cooked lots of food on the fire.
Then Mum toasted some marshmallows.
爸爸在火上煮了許多食物。
然後媽媽烤了一些棉花糖 marshmallows。
They all sat and looked at the stars.
他們都坐下看星星。
「I have a surprise,」 said Dad. 「Sparklers!」
爸爸說：我有個驚喜，煙花棒！
Wow, firework!
It might light up the sky.
So beautiful.

「Sorry,」 said Dad the next morning. 「Still no power.」
第二天早上，爸爸說：對不起還是沒電。
「We can do without it,」 smiled Chip.
without 沒有
Chip 笑著說：沒有它（電），我們也可以啊。
「Last night was magic,」 said Wilf.
Wilf 說：昨晚，太神奇了。
They sit around the fire together.
They made fire together.
They cooked together.
They lit up the fireworks together.
Last night was amazing.
「What shall we do tonight?」 asked Biff.
Biff 問：今晚我們要做什麼？
That night Wilma had a good idea.
那晚 Wilma 有個好主意。
「We could play hide and seek,」 she said.
「If you are 'It' you have a torch.」
她說：我們玩捉迷藏。
如果你是 「它」 你有隻手電筒。
hide and seek was funny.
Do you like playing hide and seek.
And why shoud "it" have a torch?
Because "it" could find some one else by the torch.
Everyone hid around the dark cottage.
Wilf was 「It」.
He counted to a hundred.
每個人在黑暗別墅的四處藏了起來。
Wilf 是 「它」。
他數到一百。

Wilf looked in every room.
「Found you, Biff!」 he called.
Biff was hiding behind a big plant.
Wilf 挨個房間找。
他喊道：找到你了，Biff！
Biff 藏在一棵大植物的後面。
He found Chip lying in the bath.
Wilma was behind the TV.
Mum was under a bed.
他發現 Chip 躺在浴缸裡的。
Wilma 在電視機後面。
媽媽在床底下。
Good Job Wilf!
You found Biff, Chip, Wilma, and Mum.
But where was Dad?
但是爸爸在哪裡？
Suddenly, the moon came out from behind the clouds.
It lit up the windows.
突然，月亮從雲後面出來了。
照亮了窗戶。
Could you find Dad now?
A shadow came up.
Dad was hiding behind the curtains.
爸爸藏在窗簾後面。
got you Dad.
「That gives me an idea,」 thought Wilma.
「這給了我一個主意，」Wilma 心想。
What's Wilma's idea?
What will happen next?
