在英語中，除了日常學習用的書面語，常用語之外，還會遇到俚語。這些俚語經常讓人看的一臉懵......
1.A cold fish
一條寒冷的魚？其實是用來形容情緒不會表露出來的人或者是冷血的人。
She is such a cold fish that it's hard to know what she is thinking about.
她是一個不會將情緒表露出來的人，因此很難知道她在想什麼。
2. to drink like a fish
像魚一樣的喝酒？表示喝很多，尤其指喝很多酒。
He drank like a fish when he was in Germany during Oktoberfest.
他在德國啤酒節時喝非常多酒。
3.like a fish out of water
像一隻不在水中的魚？衍伸的意思是在一個不熟悉的環境中感到尷尬、不自在，或是覺得不屬於這裡的一部分。
My mother felt like a fish out of water in her first dancing class, because the average age of the students is under 20.
我媽媽在她第一堂舞蹈課感到很不自在，因為學生的平均年齡低於20歲。
4.packed in like sardines
擠得像罐頭裡的沙丁魚一樣，也就是儘可能將將物品塞滿，或是人努力地擠進去。
Due to the sale of fruits and vegetables, people were packed in like sardines in that supermarket.
因為水果和蔬菜在特賣，那間超市被擠得水洩不通。
5.to have the memory of a goldfish
金魚只有7秒鐘的記憶，擁有金魚的記憶，也就是我們所熟知的金魚腦啦！用來形容人們記憶非常的差，很容易忘東忘西。
I have to admit that I have the memory of a goldfish. That's why I always bring my planner in case I forget anything important.
我必須要承認我是金魚腦。這也是為什麼我總是帶著我的記事本，以免忘掉任何重要的事情。
6.a different kettle of fish
kettle是水壺的意思，不同水壺的魚的意思衍伸為現在提及的事物，跟剛剛是截然不同的。
Melody is a sweet and considerate girl while her sister is a completely different kettle of fish.
Melody是一個甜美又體貼的女孩，然而她的姐姐是完全不一樣的人。
7.bigger fish to fry
字面上是還有更大的魚要去炸，代表還有更重要的事情要做。
The diplomat has to leave the feast right now; he has got bigger fish to fry.
那個外交官現在必須要離開宴會；他有更重要的事情需要處理。
