每個人的生活，都在2020年的新春發生了諸多的變化。一場疫情，打亂了所有人的計劃，對於升學的12年級學生來說，嚴峻異常，IB考試取消，託福、雅思停考，但困境從未阻止逐夢人的腳步，4月的扉頁翻開的時刻，海嘉畢業生也在升學的裡程碑時刻，書寫了一份厚重的答卷：
截止到目前，2020屆畢業生，共計收到了主要來自英美的的80多份大學錄取通知書。所有學生均收到自己心儀大學的錄取通知。其中，不乏有帝國理工大學、多倫多大學、英屬哥倫比亞大學、塔夫茨大學、紐約大學、波士頓學院、愛丁堡大學、倫敦國王學院、華威大學、香港大學等世界著名大學的Offer。

在眾多的獎學金錄取中，美國 Willamette Univerity 文理學院還向海嘉一學生發出了14萬8千美金的獎學金，該同學共計獲得了21萬8千美金合計148萬人民幣的獎學金。
放眼英美加本土外院校，我們也欣喜於瑞士、中國香港等國家和地區的頂尖院校有了越來越多海嘉學生的身影。
酒店管理專業排名世界前三的瑞士理諾士國際酒店管理學院遞來的橄欖枝，今年的畢業生還在中國香港地區院校佔據一席之地，收穫香港大學和香港教育學院全額獎學金錄取，合港幣74萬元。
申請越加趨向多元化，也意味著海嘉的教學質量在各個國家和地區的認可度不斷上升。
在專業方向，準畢業生們的申請也日趨多元化，除了保持在經濟方向上的商科，化學、數學等理科的優勢，海嘉學生的專業選擇也日趨多元化，有致力於研究社會人文方向，也有矢志於教育方向，更有更多的學生將興趣投射到專業選擇，在酒店管理、傳媒、電影、插畫等方向上抵達自己的Dream school。在今年藝術類院校的申請中，IB藝術考生更是幾乎囊括全美最頂尖的藝術院校帕森斯設計學院（世界排名第三,全美設計學院第一）、紐約時裝學院（世界時裝學院第一）、芝加哥藝術學院（世界排名第九）、馬裡蘭藝術學院、紐約視覺藝術學院(插畫專業世界第一)、加州藝術學院等個大院校的offer。
在和平年代，自由思想之光輝，正照耀著這群青春、無限可能的孩子。他們內塑自我，以獨立之精神，以自由之思想，尋找最適合自己的方向，走出一條與眾不同之道路。
正如海嘉名譽校長顧明遠老先生所說的「像細雨一樣做事，潤物無聲」，海嘉的升學亦秉持這樣謙卑的理念。
海嘉畢業生十大素養中有三條關於思想：思維開放、善於反思、善於思考。獨立的思想是大學最願意看到的，無論大事小事，能夠看到一些不同於別人的意義和價值是非常難得的。尤其在專業方面，如果可以懂得去鑽研，這是大學都青睞的品質。我們鼓勵學生在每次參加活動或一些特別經歷以後，當下進行總結，感受會更加深刻。這種批判性思維的長期鍛鍊，都是培養獨立思想的基礎。自然在申請學校的時候，就會展現出來。
其實我們更願意稱之為平凡的經歷，不凡不是意味著非要去什麼非洲野外實習，為難民籌款之類驚天動地的大事。相反，只要在自己擅長和喜歡的領域做一些堅持不懈的事情，比如組織一些活動，長期的義工、幫助病童、甚至在學校周圍撿垃圾促進環保這一類很平凡的事，「化平凡為不凡」，就能夠真正從中發掘出可貴的收穫，就能打動學校。這是海嘉從學生上高中以來，一直堅持的事情。
在長期的工作中，我們接觸了很多大學的招生官，他們直言，有些申請Essay一看就是中介寫的，或是根本不像學生的口吻，對於這些申請Essay他們會毫不猶豫地進垃圾桶。在海嘉，高年級學生申請Essay都是同學們自己寫的，不會使用中介，也並沒有提供特別的專項寫作訓練。「即使存在瑕疵也沒有問題，因為這就是事實的客觀存在，實事求是，與學生自身能力相匹配的學校，就是最適合、也是對學生最好的學校。
優秀的成績絕不是一日簇成，它需要長年累月的積累。海嘉之所以能夠取得不錯的成績，首先跟學生們語言的優勢及學術成績是分不開的，海嘉是PreK-K12一貫制雙語學校，從海嘉成長起來的學生，到10-11年級時，不用專項訓練，至多花一兩周的時間去熟悉託福或雅思的題型，就可以在考試中取得非常好的成績。
從九年級開始，海嘉就會為每個學生開通大學申請系統帳號，從個人性格特點、熱情所在、理想申請國家、理想學校性質、未來潛在職業方向等等方面與學生進行探討和規劃。之後，會向學生提供相關信息的獲取資源和調研方法，鼓勵學生們自己探討出未來的理想申請計劃。
相較於執著排名頂尖學校的錄取率來「成就學校」，海嘉的目標更多的是「成就學生」。海嘉的學生選擇真正自己的「夢想大學」，就如海嘉學校升學老師所說，要成就學生，成就他們的夢想。在今年的畢業生中，我們很多的學生都成功地申請到了他們「夢想的大學」。

In the new year of 2020, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted everybody’s plans. The G12 students are faced with unprecedented challenges including the cancellation of IB examinations, the suspension of TOEFL and IELTS. Yet no difficulty could ever stop dream catchers. At the beginning of April，a milestone moment for university admissions, BIBA graduates are reaping a harvest.
BIBA students as a group (100%) have currently received over 80 offers from universities mainly from the United States and the United Kingdom, including Top World Ranked Universities, such as: Imperial College London, University of Toronto, Tufts University, New York University, Boston College, Boston University, University of Edinburgh, Kings』 College London, University of Warwick and Hong Kong University, to name just a few.
28% of the students have been accepted into the Top 20 World Universities;
39% of the students have been accepted into the Top 30 World Universities;
56% of students have been accepted into the Top 50 World Universities;
100% of our students have been accepted into the 「Best Fit universities」.
Moreover, many students have also received offers from their DREAM UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE. Due to the pandemic, a vast number of universities have extended their deadlines. Therefore, further offers are anticipated to occur soon.
BIBA students received offers from both famous comprehensive universities and private, research-oriented colleges in the USA, such as Tufts University, New York University,Boston College, University of California Santa Barbara, Boston University, Northeastern University, Penn State University and Ohio State University. One graduate has received $148K Scholarship from Willamette University and a total of approximately $218K (1480K RMB) in Scholarship funds from American universities.
Offers are also received from the Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland which ranks among the top three in the field of Hotel Management studies. One student received a full scholarship of HK$ 740k to attend The University of Hong Kong and The Education University of Hong Kong.
The diversity of applications and offers has also meant increasing recognition of the teaching quality at BIBA by institutions in various countries and regions.
From the aspect of UK university admission, students have received offers from Imperial College London, University of Manchester, University of Bristol, King’s college London, University of Warwick, Durham University and more. Apart from these offers, we are also pleased to see admissions from top universities in Canada, Switzerland, Hong Kong and other countries and regions. BIBA students have received offers from traditionally renowned Canadian universities including University of Toronto, The University of British Columbia (UBC), Queen’s University, Western University -University of Western Ontario and others.
Applications for study areas are becoming increasingly diversified. In addition to the advantage fields of economics, business, chemistry and mathematics, students have chosen to study human sciences and also shown commitment to education. Other students demonstrated interests in hotel management, media, film and illustration studies. In the very specific IB art applications, offers received cover almost all the top art schools in the USA including Parsons Art and Design School in NYC (Ranking World No.3), School of the Art Institute of Chicago (Ranking World No.9), Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), FIT, School of Visual Arts(SVA) and California Institute of the Arts.
In an era of peace, the light of independent investigation shines on this group of youths, who model themselves with the spirit of independence and freedom to find the best fit for their own direction in a unique and innovative way.
As the honorary President of BIBA School, Mr. Gu MingYuan, advocated: 「Show your deeds like a light rain, moisture things silently.」 BIBA also upholds such a humble approach.
Cultivating an independent mind
Three of the ten Goals for Graduate Qualities are about thinking: Open thinking, reflective thinking and independent thinking. Independent thinking is the most important quality for university learning. Regardless whether this is on a big or small scale, it is valuable to see things from a different point of view, especially from a professional point of view. This is the quality that every university favors. BIBA encourages students to make a summary of each activity or experience. This kind of long-term practice of critical thinking is the foundation for cultivating independent thinking naturally shown in student applications for universities.
Enjoying an extraordinary experience
In fact, this should really be called an 『ordinary experience』. Being extraordinary doesn't mean that we have to go to some field practice in Africa and raise money for refugees. Instead, just keep doing what you are good at such as organizing activities; volunteering for a long period; helping children who are in medical care or even picking trash up from around the school, promoting environmental protection and other very do-able, ordinary things. To turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, you can really find valuable meanings which will touch the universities. This is what BIBA students have been practicing during their High School study time.
Nurturing the spirit of seeking truth from facts
Over time, many university admission officials have become outspoken about some applications which were written by an intermediary, or that the applications don't sound like the student at all. These students』 applications go straight into the trash bin. BIBA senior students write essays and statements by themselves without using intermediaries. No specific writing training is provided by the school either. Even if there are flaws, this is not a problem because this is the reality of the student's capability, it is fact, the truth and the real ability too. By keeping to this reality, BIBA's students are matched with the most suitable schools, the best school for the students.
Accumulation of accomplished academic work
Rome was not built in a day. The outstanding grades that BIBA students have achieved are credited to the advantages of language. BIBA is a Pre-K to K12 bilingual school. Students growing up in the school and reaching G10 or G11 can achieve very good results in TOEFL and IELTS tests after getting familiar with the test formalities in one week or two without special training.
Starting from G9, the School will open an account in the university application system for each student and discuss and plan with the student considering aspects of personal characteristics, passion, ideal application country, ideal school nature, future potential, career direction and so on. Afterwards, the students will be provided with relevant information and research methods to encourage them to explore the ideal application plan in the future. BIBA students pay less attention to school rankings and rather more to find a suitable university through years of research and self-assessment.
Rather than focusing on high admission rates to the top ranking universities to make the School more appealing, BIBA focuses on sending students to their ideal places as high fliers.
