Once there was a princes who
didn’t behave like a Princess.
很久以前，有一位一點也不像公主的公主。
The King and Queen were
shocked by her frightful manners.
就連國王和王后也被她可怕的行為禮儀震驚了。
Her tangled hair and ragged
clothes made her Nanny cry.
她亂作一團的頭髮和髒兮兮的衣服
讓她的保姆難過得掉眼淚。
」Don't touch me! I'm perfect!"
「別碰我，我這樣很完美！「
Her cook, try as he might, could never
serve a meal the Princess liked.
她的廚師，雖然十分努力，
但是從來沒有一頓飯能讓公主滿意。
「Spaghetti a` la meatballs and
chocolate peanut butter cake."
「肉丸義大利麵加花生巧克力黃油蛋糕。」
"Throw it to the swine!"
「扔出去餵豬吧！」
No one ever saw her smile, except
when she played a mean trick on the old knight.
從來沒有人看到她微笑過，
除了她捉弄守衛她的老騎士的時候。
」Eat up your nice worm!"
「快把你的蟲子吃了！」
All the mothers and fathers in the kingdom
warned their children not to be like her.
王國裡所有的爸爸媽媽都警告
自己的孩子不要像公主那樣。
One day, a dragon was seen moving
into a cave in the mountain.
The mothers and fathers were frightened
and ran to the King and Queen for help.
"It's green! It's big! It's hungry! Help!"
The King and Queen were worried too.
有一天，有人看到一條龍飛進了山裡的山洞裡。
爸爸媽媽們都嚇壞了，跑向國王和王后尋求幫助。
「它是綠色的！它好大！它很餓！救命！「
國王和王后也十分憂慮。
They knew that dragons like
to kidnap Princesses.
他們知道龍總是會去綁架公主。
"It's come for our little dear.""Oh me!"
「它衝著我們的小寶貝來了!」,「我的天!」
But most upset of all was the old knight,
as it was his job to protect the royal child.
但是最煩惱的是老騎士，因為他的本職工作
就是保護皇室孩子的安全。
This news gave the Princess a mean idea.
聽到這個消息，公主有了個餿主意。
Wouldn’t it be jolly to watch the
old Knight fight a dragon?
看老騎士去跟龍打架不是很有趣嗎？
She would let the monster capture her.
她打算讓那個怪物抓住她。
That night, while everyone was asleep,
the Princess tiptoed out and made
her way up to the terrible creature’s cave.
那天晚上，趁著大家都進入夢鄉。
公主悄悄溜了出來，找到了可怕的怪物所在的山洞。
But inside, she found a dragon
daintily playing a piano.
但是山洞裡面，公主卻發現，
有一隻龍優雅地彈著鋼琴。
The dragon was not at all
what the Princess expected.
這個龍跟公主想得一點也不一樣！
"I'm the Princess. Capture me!"
「我是公主。來抓我啊！」
"I wouldn't dream of it!"
「我做夢也沒想過這樣做。
The Princess thought dragons were fierce.
公主認為，龍都是很兇猛的。
But this dragon wasn’t fierce at all.
但是這條龍一點也不兇猛。
'Don't dragons roar loudly, chase
knights and kidnap princesses?"
「龍不都是大喊大叫，追趕騎士，綁架公主嗎？「
"The others do. I don't like to.
「其它的龍是，我可不喜歡。」
The Dragon thought princesses were gentle.
龍認為，公主都是很溫柔的。
But this Princess wasn’t gentle at all.
但是這個公主一點都不溫柔。
"Don't you take ballet, read good books,
and wear lovely gowns?"
「公主不都是跳跳芭蕾、讀讀書、穿漂亮禮服嗎？」
"Not me. I hate it!"
「我不是，我討厭這些！」
The Princess knew she could be a
better dragon than the Dragon.
公主想，我可比這隻龍更適合當龍。
"I'd shake mountains with my roar."
「我要喊得地動山搖」
The dragon knew it could be a better
princess than the Princess.
龍想，我可比這個公主更適合當公主。
「I'd study the violin."
「我想學小提琴。」
Suddenly, they both had an idea.
突然，他們都有了個好主意。
"I'll be the Princess." "And I'll be the Dragon."
「我來當公主！」「我來當龍！」
They shook hands and agreed to
change places that very night.
就在那個晚上，他們握手同意互相交換位置。
「Get going Greenie! This is my place now!"
「快走，小綠龍，這裡是我的地盤了！」
"A tisket, a tasket, a green and yellow basket..."
"丟紙片，丟紙片，提著一個黃綠相間的籃子。」
And wasn’t Nanny surprised the next morning?
第二天早上公主的保姆能不驚奇嗎？
The dragon had put on a lovely blue gown.
It curtsied sweetly and wanted some
powder for its nose.
這條龍穿著漂亮的藍色禮服，有禮貌地行禮，
還想在鼻子上撲一些粉。
「How lovely you look, Princess!"
"公主，你看起來太美啦！」
「Why，thank you, Nanny dear."
"謝謝你，親愛的Nanny！」
「Good morning. Isn't it a lovely day?"
"Please, pass the butter."
「多好的一天！請把黃油遞給我。」
"How polite you are, Princess."
」What perfect manners，Princess."
「公主你太有禮貌了！「公主太有風度了！」
The King and Queen were overjoyed at the change.
國王和王后看著這些改變簡直太高興啦!
"Simply divine. May I have seconds please?"
"美味極了！我可以再來一份嗎？「
The cook nearly dropped the Egg Benedict
when the Princess ask for more.
當「公主」向廚師要更多的班尼迪克煎蛋時，
廚師驚訝得差點把盤子丟了。
From that time on, life was much more pleasant.
從那時起，生活變得愉快多了！
No one really minded the Dragon’s mean pranks.
沒有人真的在意「龍」的惡作劇。
No one, that is, except the Knight,
who had to rescue the Princess whenever
the dragon captured her.
沒有人，當然，除了老騎士，
因為每次「龍」來抓「公主」的時候，
他就得去救「公主」。
」After that Dragon, Knight!"
"騎士，去抓龍！"
The knight always ended up being captured.
老騎士最後總是被」龍「抓住。
"When I roar, mountains shake."

"I play violin with my eyes closed."

Now, all the mothers and fathers in
the kingdom told their children to
behave like the Princess, and, of course,
they did their best.
現在，王國裡所有的家長都讓
他們的孩子們像」公主」學習，當然了，
所有的孩子們都做得很好。
But when they couldn’t, they know the placeto go.
不過，當孩子們忍不住想調皮搗蛋的時候，
他們可有個好去處了。
