劇情：

　　泰利自父母在一次意外中雙雙亡故後就一直過著漂泊的生活。他做事浮躁、不守規矩，卻對將來充滿信心，他總是堅持認為：自己不會一直平凡下去，只是了解他的人還未出現。但他這種玩世不恭的舉止行為卻令人懷疑。當泰利在麻薩諸塞州的公共汽車上偶然結識了一個女友後，他來到了紐約州的北部地區，希望在這裡掙到更多的錢。

　　他的姐姐薩美就在這個地區的一家小銀行的貸款部門工作。薩美與泰利的脾性完全相反，她勤奮務實，並懂得善待身邊的人。此時她還是一個單身母親，帶有一個8歲的兒子。

　　離別多年姐弟再次相見，並沒有骨肉重逢的感人場面，取而代之的卻是發生在家中的一場激烈爭執。一切平靜下來後，兩人重新各自的生活。不同的是，在一個城市裡彼此都開始感受到一份親情的溫暖。接連發生的事情也使他們更加了解對方，最終化解了積怨。

　　很少有著眼於成年兄弟姐妹關係的影片，更鮮有如《誠信無價》這樣充滿風趣幽默和富有力度的表演魅力的影片，人物真實可信，親切得如同你身邊天天見到的老朋友，導演沒有讓影片流於過分的感傷和做作的煽情，全片始終保持著一份輕快的調子，情節自然流暢，讓人愉悅。

　　女明星蘿拉·琳妮曾在《剛果驚魂》《一級恐懼》《楚門的世界》和中有過令人印象深刻的表演，但輿論一致認為，該片才是她從影以來最成功的作品。的確片中蘿拉·琳尼的亮點比比皆是，把薩美的自我克制刻畫得入木三分，使她對愛的包容顯得既真實可信又感人至深。

　　馬克·拉夫洛成功地扮演了反覆無常卻又無比迷人的泰利。他情緒多變，時而低落萎靡，時而又興高採烈，他是一個暴躁易怒的大麻吸食者，但他也可以成為一個充滿智慧和力量的堅強依靠。

　　本片是肯·洛納根導演的銀幕處女作，對這部影片，影評人們給予的最高評價是「它無愧於巴赫的音樂」。像許多其他導演一樣，洛納根藉助了約翰·塞巴斯蒂安·巴赫的音樂來為影片的原聲音樂增色──他從巴赫的大提琴獨奏組曲中選取了一些急促起伏的樂章，又從雄偉的《馬太受難曲》中遴選了一些段落。通常像這樣的借鑑常會因影片的劇情與音樂不符而在情感交流和審美情趣上產生不和諧，但在這部影片中卻沒有這樣的情況，我們所感受到的只有和諧與共鳴。

　　好的影片當然不應該被冷落，該片不僅獲得了2000年聖丹斯電影節最高獎，並在許多電影節上取得榮譽，同時還將參加今年金球獎最佳女演員獎和最佳編劇獎的角逐。
