2018年美國大學申請正式扣響了發令槍。隨著11月1日第一波申請截止時間的接近,所有申請人都變得越來越緊張。而靠近截止期前的幾次標化考試,就成了大家的最後一搏,必打之戰。
就在大家籌劃著在9月份考出一個好成績,用於申請時,卻出了一個天大的變故。
今天早上許多考生接到這樣一份通知。
通知告訴大家:ACT因為洩題,大規模取消9月的考試,包括中國的大陸的GAC、日本考場、澳門考場、臺灣考場、新加坡考場,以及香港優質中心考場。香港的其他考場以及北美考場還沒有定論,在等待後續消息。
聽完這一消息,各留學群各朋友圈都炸了。
今早凌晨還有一群去泰國考試的學生,正興奮地坐飛機去趕考,竟然還不知考試有變。
有些同學捂著臉問:考試都取消了,這樣千裡迢迢奔赴日本,澳門,臺灣,難道變成度假了?其實同學們哪有心思玩,11月1日的早申DEADLINE撲面而來,等成績下鍋去申請的人一大把。今天各留學群的淚水比室外的雨水還多。
更有人表示不滿:少數人的不誠實行為,怎麼可以讓這麼多人來背鍋?
實際上大家在暑假前剛接受一次打擊,SAT取消了今年6月份的考試。
2018的申請同學真是命運多戕。先是從SAT轉新SAT。 又因SAT取消考試次數,從SAT再轉到ACT,然而ACT又兩次取消考試,再遇成績風波各種傷心事。從而引發陰謀論,有同學在社交媒體裡指出:美國人削弱亞洲申請者的辦法居然是「不讓你考試」。
但是不管怎樣,還是收拾心情,繼續備戰。因為留給大家的時間正在隨著時鐘一圈一圈地消逝。後續的ACT考試可以先報名。就算早申來不及,趕元旦那波申請還是有希望的。
我們再來看看TOP100學校的具體截止日期。
美國前100名大學的截止日期如下:
表裡面的一些專業名詞稍做解釋:
提前決定ED:Early Decision,具有約束力,錄取一定要去。提前行動EA:Early Action,錄取可以不去。限制性提前行動REA: Restrictive Early Action 只能申請一所
正常申請RD:Regular Decision
滾動申請RA: Rolling Admission,沒有明確申請或錄取截止日 期,只要學生的申請材料全部提交完畢,招生辦就會開始對學生的 申請進行評估並且通知學生錄取結果,直到錄滿為止。相對國內高考,美國大學申請周期長,步驟繁雜,非常考驗學生的綜合能力。相比ACT,SAT,TOEFL 這些折磨人的標化考試,文書寫作更是讓考生們百爪抓心。除了耗神費時外,如果寫不出新意與深度來,第一輪就會慘遭淘汰。
我們熬夜把TOP50大學的文書整理了出來.公眾號有字數限制,只能發上來TOP10,供大家參看一下,特別對那些志在爬藤,想早做準備的朋友。
請注意:下面文書的中文翻譯,是由志願者翻譯的,時間匆忙,完全達不到信雅達這麼高的要求,也不能保證精準,主要供吃瓜群眾參考一下美國名校對學生全面素質是如何考核的。
我們按順序大致看下來。
1.Engineering Essay:
