FAITH英語天天學 儘管…也要做某事

今天，我們來學習三種「儘管。。。也要做某事」的英語表達法：

1．in spite of：不管，不顧；儘管，雖然。。。也要做某事（在of後面一般放名詞或名詞性詞組，也可以放其它詞性的詞）：

I went out in spite of the rain. 

儘管下雨我還是外出了。

I’m present in the board meeting in spite of my illness. 

儘管生病了，我還是出席了董事會議。

He laughed in spite of himself. 

他不禁笑出聲來。

2．Despite: prep.不管, 儘管，其用法：despite （the fact） that引導的從句， 或despite + 名詞/名詞性詞組/其它詞性的詞：

Despite the fact that she is short, she is an excellent basketball player. 盡

管她個子矮, 卻是個出色的籃球運動員。

He failed despite all his efforts. 

儘管他下了許多功夫，他還是失敗了。

She achieved her goal despite setbacks.. 

儘管遇到了挫折但她最終實現了她的目標。

3．though/even though: 雖然; 儘管, 即使, 縱然, though後面放個句子，另一個句子前就不用「but」.

It's quite pleasant today, though the wind is rather cool. 

儘管風有點涼, 今天天氣還是很不錯的。

Though he's fool, I like him nonetheless. 

雖然他很笨, 我仍然喜歡他。

Even though he was getting angry, his voice remained level. 

即使他非常生氣, 他的聲音仍保持穩定。

He's the best teacher even though he has the least experience. 

儘管他經驗最少, 但教得最好。
