The Way Girls Run
At the very beginning, I』d like to ask, what does it mean RUN LIKE A GIRL? Tiny steps, wrong-footed or probably faint at any time? Is it true that all the girls do run like that or we consider girls running in a delicate way as a real lady?
But when the problem being thrown to younger girls,the answers were totally different and diverse. Some drive their legs rapidly to run fast, some stride and some even leap forward. These girls proved it with their actions that gesture of running has no necessity to be linked with gender difference. It’s natural that girls and boys are equal in terms of physical and intellectual events.
Girls have been trapped in a stereotyped image for quiet long time. They are always expect to be beautiful, elegant, considerate, submissive and uncompetitive. They must display their shining points to attract a man’s attention and simultaneously conceal their talent to satisfy the man’s vanity. They must be charming and vigorous as a maiden and be gentle, virtuous and low-key once they marry. They are required to be delicate and aggradevole while strong enough to raise children and take care of the whole family. An array of tags that do not belong to females are labeled on them forcedly, suppressing their free soul, thus ruining their lives.
Now it is time to tear up these labels that are inequitably imposed on females, because those are just false impressions of women. Women have minds and souls as well as just hearts. They』ve got ambition, and they』ve talent as well as just beauty. They have the capability to run, to fight, to voice their rights as well as males. Born as humans, every individual woman has power to show their uniqueness instead of being objectified. Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive, both men and women should feel free to be strong. It is time that we all perceive gender on a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals. If we should stop defining each other by what we are not and start defining ourselves by who we are, we can all be freer.
Let’s redefine the LIKE GIRLS as something wonderful.
