節日英語表達
Halloween is on October 31st, the last day of the Celtic calendar. It was originally a pagan holiday, honoring the dead. Halloween was referred to as All Hallows Eve and dates back to over 2000 years ago.
10月31日是萬聖節，這也是凱爾特歷的最後一天。萬聖節起初是一個異教徒的節日，紀念死去的人。萬聖節源於聖徒日前夜，始於2000多年前。
Halloween culture can be traced back to the Druids, a Celtic culture in Ireland, Britain and Northern Europe. Roots lay in the feast of Samhain, which was annually on October 31st to honor the dead.
萬聖節文化可以追溯到德魯伊教，這是一種愛爾蘭、北歐和英國的凱爾特文化，根植於薩溫節（古代凱爾特人的屬陰節）的慶祝活動，薩溫節於每年的10月31日紀念逝者。
The Celts believed the souls of the dead roamed the streets and villages at night.Since not all spirits were thought to be friendly, gifts and treats were left out to pacify the evil and ensure next year crops would be plentiful. This custom evolved into trick-or-treating.
凱爾特人相信死者的靈魂會在夜裡出沒在街道和村莊。因為他們認為不是所有的靈魂都是友善的，所以就把禮物和好吃的留在外面安慰惡靈來確保來年的莊稼可以豐收。這種習俗演變成了trick-or-treating(不給糖果就搗蛋) 。
究竟萬聖節有什麼習俗哪？
一、 Trick or Treating
孩子們穿著特殊的衣服走街串巷，討取糖果和玩具之類的賞賜。如果他們得不到任何的賞賜，就可能會對屋主大搞惡作劇或者胡鬧了。
二、化妝晚會
Halloween is also a time for masquerade parties.
You can even dress up as a famous monster like Dracula! The motto is: "The scarier, the better."
你還可以化妝成像吸血鬼那樣可怕的妖怪。有句諺語說：「越恐怖越好。」
三、南瓜燈
A well-known Halloween tradition is to make lanterns from pumpkins,called 「Jack-o-lanterns」.
萬聖節前夜的眾所周知的傳統用南瓜做成燈，叫「傑克燈」。把南瓜裡面掏空。然後在南瓜上切出一張臉孔，通常是一張笑眯眯的魔鬼面孔。最後，在裡面放上一隻蠟燭，然後把南瓜燈放在房子前面用來嚇跑那些邪惡的幽靈。
其實
Halloween只是All Hallows' Day（萬聖節）的eve（前夜）
所以，
Halloween應該譯成「萬聖夜」
而非「萬聖節」
也就是說
Halloween其實是指萬聖節的前夕
也就是10月31號晚上
（狂歡patty這段時間）
