今日主題句：儘管太陽高照，卻不很暖和。

Although the sun was shining it wasn't very warm.

秋意漸濃，別看太陽挺大，但吹的已經是冷風了，同學們請注意早晚防寒，提防感冒啊。

說回正題，在使用although表示「雖然……，但是……」的句子時，有多少人會把今天的主題句寫成：

Although the sun was shining, but it wasn't very warm. （錯誤）

在使用although時，後面一定不能接but。

（一）though 和 although的用法及其讓步狀語從句

請注意，though的拼寫是有區別於through和thought的，外面上長得有些相似，但是意思卻相差很遠，大家一定要注意區分，看閱讀的時候，也注意不要先入為主的認錯了。

① through

adj. 貫穿的。

n. 思想；思考；

v. 想，思考；認為（think的過去式和過去分詞）

（1）連詞though和although作「雖然」講的讓步狀語從句

[例句]

Although（或 Though）he is only eighteen years old, he has learned how to program. 雖然他才18歲，但他已經會編程序了。

【注意】雖然與although或though搭配時，英語裡不能使用but，但我們在翻譯時，一定要加上「但是」。考慮那強迫症患者的因素，真要對稱一下，可以加上still或yet。

[例句]

Although his matter sounds strange, yet it is true. 此事聽起來雖然奇怪，但卻是事實。

（2）though和although引導的讓步狀語從句可以省略與主句相同的主語及其對應的be動詞。

[例句]

Though（或Although) in a hurry, he stopped to answer my question. 儘管他很忙，但還是停下來回答了我的問題。

（3）though位於主句後面，並且前面還有逗號時作「可是」講。

[例句]

They're very different, though they did seem to get on well when they met. 他們大不相同，可是見面後好像還確實相處得不錯。

（4）though作副詞「可是」，能夠放在句末，但although不可以。

[例句]

It's hard task, I enjoy it though. 這是件艱難的任務，可是我樂意幹。

（5）as though（或 as if）「好像……似的」

[例句]

He acted as though（或 as if） no accident had happened. 他表現得似乎什麼事故都沒有發生過似的。

（6）even though（或 even if） 「儘管，即使」

[例句]

I'll overcome all the difficulties, even though is cost me my life. 我要克服一切困難，即使要獻出我的生命。

講到這裡，我賣一個關子，問：

Even if I love you, I can't marry you.

和

Even though I love you, I can't marry you.
