一篇介紹億萬富翁巴菲特的專題報導中，說他雖然進的是高檔餐廳，而他首選的食物卻是漢堡包及薯條，僅伴上寒櫻可樂而已。當被問到他為什麼不擁有一艘遊艇時，他的回答是"Most toys are just a pain in the neck.」 要知道，巴菲特6歲時就開始挨家挨戶兜售口香糖。不久之後，他開始逐門逐戶叫賣可口可樂。他深知掙錢不易，後雖成為股神，大量收購公司，賺得億萬財富，他卻一貫懂得節儉，從不奢侈，而對慈善事業卻十分慷慨大方，也就是說他比誰都知道錢應當花在該花的地方。

這裡需要明白的是，a pain in the neck絕不是字面意義的「脖子上有疼痛」。我們看一下英文解釋再說。To be an annoying person, or an annoying or inconvenient thing or situation; to be something that causes aggravation. 其實也就是個比較粗鄙的短語，意思是「令人厭惡的人或物」。巴菲特上面那句話就應當譯為「大多那些玩具都讓人討厭。」才正確。
