1.besides意為「除了……還有」，相當於in addition to
BesidesLi Ming，there are many other students attending the meeting. 除了李明參加會議，還有許多其他學生也參加會議。
2.except表示「除去，不包括」，強調所排除的「不包括在內」，一般表示同類之間的關係，常同nothing，all，none，nobody，any等不定代詞以及every連用
They all went thereexcept Li Ming. (李明沒去)去
He goes to work every dayexcept Sunday. (星期天不上班)班
She saw nothingexcept snow. 她只看見了雪。（nothing except=nothing but=only）
注意：except經常接名詞或代詞，但也可接副詞，介詞短語，不帶to的不定式或從句等。
She looked everywhere except here. 除了這他到地方都看過的。(接副詞)
You may drop in at any time except at noon. (介詞短語)
3.besides含有肯定含義，應與a few，a little連用；
except含有否定含義，應與few，little連用。
She has fewfriends except you. 除你之外，他沒有別的朋友。(她唯一的朋友)
She hasa few friends besides you. 除你之外，他還有幾個朋友。（她朋友中的一個）
