The Chinese Speech and Story-telling Contest was held at the Canadian International School Kunshan on November 20 and 22. The competition was organized by the Mandarin department, and it was a great success! The purpose of the contest is to have students develop a passion for Chinese, as well as to improve their Chinese speech skills. Also it is a great opportunity for students to showcase themselves and improve themselves. The theme of the contest this year can be related to PYP transdisciplinary themes and MYP and DP local and global contexts.
2019年11月20和22日，崑山加拿大國際學校中文組成功舉辦中文演講暨講故事大賽！本次活動旨在提高我校學生的綜合素質，激發學生學習中文的熱情，為同學們提供一個展示自我、提升自我的舞臺與機會。本次活動的主題圍繞PYP的六個跨學科主題及MYP和DP的全球性問題展開。
The contest was fully supported by students and parents. After a series of auditions and preliminaries, a total of 35 students made it into the final competition. It was wonderful to see so many students challenge themselves in Mandarin. All students were full of energy, showed a friendly attitude, and spoke fluently in Mandarin. They won warm applause from their classmates, parents and teachers. Parents and teachers were very proud of the students who gave such passionate speeches. We notice that our students have made significant progress and showing more confidence.
此次大賽得到了廣大同學和家長們的支持。孩子們的參與度非常高，經過一系列海選與預賽，共有35位學生成功晉級到決賽，充分展示了我校學生中文風採。參賽學生精神飽滿、態度親切、舉止從容、語言生動富有變化，贏得了在場同學、家長和老師們一陣陣熱烈的掌聲。看他們在臺上富有激情的演講，家長和老師不禁為之自豪。特別是與去年相比較，孩子們取得了明顯的進步，更加自信、大方的展現自己。
Along with this competition, the students' excellent Chinese homework was exhibited in the school foyer. This exhibition provided a platform for students to promote and learn from each other by viewing the learning results of other students and to broaden their horizons. The students displayed strong communicated skills in their projects. From the exhibition, they learned how to write more effectively and developed good study attitudes of outstanding students. Good homework habits not only enable students to better consolidate their knowledge, but also promote the development of quality learning which can have lifelong benefits.
這次比賽中，同學們平時的優秀中文作業被展覽在學校大廳，此次優秀作業展為同學們提供了一個相互促進、學習的平臺，讓孩子們看到其他同學的學習成果，開闊了視野，讓他們從同伴身上取長補短。各年級的同學們認真、仔細地閱讀著每一份作業，欣賞著、讚嘆著、交流著、學習著。從展覽中他們學到了怎樣書寫更規範、更有效，學到了優秀學生良好的學習態度。而良好的作業習慣不但可以讓同學們更好地鞏固知識，而且能夠促進同學們良好學習品質的養成，讓孩子們受用終身。
Finally, after difficult deliberations, the judges selected the first, second and third prize, and held a grand award ceremony at the end of the event. Thank you to all the participants and congratulations to the winners. We look forward to the next competition!
