這個表示 "光說不練"的說法據說來自 《聖經》的一句話：These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 這些人用嘴巴和唇舌尊敬我，但他們的心卻遠離我。
意思就是：這些人在耳邊說話，但其實句句都言不由衷。
這個說法開始於17世紀中期。
