SH Ultra is one of China's most influential underground techno DJs since relocating toShanghai in 2005 from the UK and was resident for 9 years at Shanghai's legendary Shelterclub. He co-founded the infamous underground house and techno collective - VOID - whichbecame China's first monthly underground house and techno night back in 2007 to pioneerthe development of the genre in China. The night brought many seminal techno artists toChina for the first time including Juan Atkins, Robert Hood, Surgeon, DJ Bone, and NeilLandstrumm, Underground Resistance and Token Belgium.
Ultra's challenging and provocative sets have helped define the Chinese techno scene. Tenyears ago minimal dominated dance floors, yet SH Ultra remained ahead of the curve,spearheading a dark and hard techno sound. A decade later everyone is playing this style inunderground clubs all over China every weekend. Yet his powerful and uncompromisingDJing, intuitive understanding of rhythm and refusal to follow trends keeps him ahead of thecurve.
