Dear Friends of the BFA Family,
The year 2020 was indeed a tough year for us all. Tough because of still on-going pandemic, theloss of lives and human sufferings, the cconomic uncertainties and hardships, the social disruptionand an uncertain future as we enter a new year.
But we' re seeing encouraging signs of hope. Countries have leant how to be better prepared for the second wave. Vaccines are well on their way to market sooner and faster. Global leadership is coming back for a global response to the virus. Countries have agreed to coordinate their macro-economic policies to prevent a free fall into the Great Depression. The year 2021 promises to be a year of pain relief, economic recovery and social harmony, if we learn the right lesson and do the right thing together.
All friends of the Boao Forum for Asia, you have been doing the right thing during the past year. Though in-person meetings are mostly impossible, you have been as active as ever in our common undertakings. The Boao Forum for Asia has proven its strength and resilience as the voice for Asia and emerging economies, be it good days or tough times.
The year 2021 also marks the 20th Anniversary of the Boao Forum for Asia. It is a moment of special significance. We have much to look back on and commemorate, and much more to look forward to and strive for. The collective vision and wisdom of the BFA Family gives me full confidence in a year of festivity, honor, responsibility and hope. By working together, we can make the year 2021 a good start for another 20 years of glory in the history of the Forum.
From deep inside, I wish you, your family, colleagues and friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
