On June 25, 2013, Air China (CA) launched a non-stop flight service between Hohhot, the capital of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region in north-central China, and Taipei, Taiwan, which is the first regional route launched by the national flag carrier in Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period.
With the addition of the new route to Taipei, Air China has opened 9 routes to Taiwan to date. Passengers from Beijing, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Shanghai (Hongqiao/Pudong), Chongqing, Wenzhou and Hohhot can travel directly between these mainland cities and Taiwan.
It is learned that the round-trip Hohhot-Taipei service is operated thrice weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Taipei-bound flight CA837 is scheduled to take off from Hohhot at 10:55 a.m. and arrive at Taipei at 2:25 p.m., while the return flight CA838 leaves Taipei at 3:50 p.m. with the arrival at Hohhot at 7:30 p.m. Air China uses Boeing 737-800 aircraft to operate on this route, offering 8 business class seats and 156 economy seats in each trip.
The new flight service offered by Air China is expected to promote the cultural, commercial and tourist exchanges and communications between Inner Mongolian and Taiwan, as well as strengthen the friendship between residents of the two regions.
