TAKING THE ELEVATOR
坐電梯
Mother: Come on,
媽媽：快點，
we need to get to the next floorto shop for clothes in your size.
咱們得去下一層買你的衣服。
Child: Okay, let's go take the elevator.
寶寶：好的，咱們去坐電梯吧。
電梯一詞，美式英語用elevator，英式英語用lift；乘坐用take一詞。
Mother: There it is over there.
媽媽：在那兒呢。
We need to press the button that has the arrow pointing up
咱們得按一下這個箭頭朝上的按鈕，
and then wait forthe doors to open.
然後等著門開。
Child: Okay, can I press the button?
寶寶：好的，我能按按鈕嗎？
Mother: Yes, of course you can.
媽媽：嗯，當然可以。
Child: Look Mommy,
寶寶：媽媽你看，
the button lit upafter I pressed it.
我一按，按鈕就亮了。
A bell sound is heard 鈴響了
Mother: Did you hear that ding sound?
媽媽：你聽見叮的一聲了嗎？
That means the elevator is on our floor
這說明電梯到咱們這層了，
and the doorsare going to open.
門馬上就開了。
Doors open 門開了
Mother: Wait!
媽媽：等一下！
We need to let the people inside the elevator get offfirst,
咱們得讓電梯裡的人先下來，
then it's our turn to go in.
然後才輪到咱們進去。
Child: Okay.
寶寶：好的。
Mother: Now it is our turn.
媽媽：現在輪到咱們了。
We must be quickthough
但是咱們得快點，
because the doors close fast.
因為門關得很快。
Child: Can I press these buttons?
寶寶：我能按這些按鈕嗎？
Mother: We only need to press one button,
媽媽：咱們只用按一個按鈕，
the one withthe number two on it
上面寫著數字二的，
as that is the floor numberwe need to get to.
因為這是咱們需要去的樓層號。
Child: Okay.
寶寶：好的。
Look!
看！
It lights up too!
它也能亮！
Mother: All the numbers are for the different floorsof the building.
媽媽：這些數字代表這棟樓的不同樓層的。
This button with two arrows pointing away from each otherwill keep the doors open.
兩個分開的箭頭的按鈕是讓門開著的。
The button with the arrows pointing towards one anothermakes the doors close.
兩個對著的箭頭的按鈕是關門用的。
咱們小時候學過each other用於二者之間，one another用於三者及以上之間，但是現在這個規則逐漸被廢棄。
Child: What does this yellow belldo?
寶寶：這個黃色的鈴是幹什麼用的啊？
Mother: That is an emergency buttonto call for help.
媽媽：這個是尋求幫助用的緊急情況按鈕。
We don't touch that button unless it is an emergency.
除非有緊急情況，我們一般不按這個按鈕。
Okay?
好嗎？
Child: Okay.
寶寶：好的。
Bell chimes again and doors open 鈴又響了，門開了
Mother: Here we are on the second floor.
媽媽：咱們到二層了。
Careful ofthe doors.
小心門。
Let's go shopping!
咱們去買東西吧！
