不入虎穴,焉得虎子的字面意思是:不敢進入老虎的洞穴,就不能捉到老虎的孩子。比喻人不經歷艱險,就不能取得成功,也指需要通過實踐才能取得真知,不能不勞而獲。

The first recording of this proverb is found in a book of English proverbs written by John Heywood in 1546.
Origin of Chinese proverb:
不入虎穴,焉得虎子出自《後漢書·班超傳》:「超曰:『不入虎穴,不得虎子。當今之計,獨有因夜以火攻虜,使彼不知我多少,必大震怖,可殄盡也。』」
How to use this proverb:
