You name it是什麼意思？

你以為這個是在表達「這個遊戲的名字」，那你就大錯特錯啦。它的意思是最根本的/最重要的東西。

clear one's name

這個短語通過字面意思，大家其實應該可以知道一些它想要表達的意思，「清潔某人的名字」也就是還人清白，洗脫罪名。

例句：

I was accused of theft, but the real thief confessed and I cleared my name.我被指控偷盜罪，找到真正的小偷之後，我的罪名被洗清了。

a big name

很多人看到「a big name」的時候會想到的是「一個很大的名字」，其實它真正的意思還真和這個意思有點關聯，它所表達的是大人物，名人。 name在這裡有點「名聲」的意味。

name the time

當你要約別人一起出去玩耍的時候，你就可以用到這個短語啦。周末要和丸子一起出去嗨皮嗎？趕緊說個時間吧，丸子來赴約，沒錯，name the time 是約定時間，定個時間的意思。

name the day

剛剛上面說「name the time」是定個時間的意思，那「name the day」難道是定日子？如果以後丸子的另一半先說這樣的話，那丸子肯定小臉一紅，哈哈！name the day是確定婚期的意思，這個日子夠大吧！

name and shame

乍看這個短語，可能會以為是給「shame」取名字，不過你這樣想得到「shame」的允許了嗎？shame是羞辱，name and shame說出名字還羞辱，就是點名批評，公開指責。

好多小可愛看到「call someone names」，就會說這不是叫很多人名字嗎？不是哦，其實它是罵人、謾罵、詆毀、辱罵某人的意思，「叫某人名字」則是「call someone s name」。
