Following the big success of costume drama The Story of Yanxi Palace, another costume drama titled Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace is stirring another wave of discussion in China.
Starring Chinese actress Zhou Xun and actor Wallace Huo, the drama debuted on video-streaming website Tencent Video on Aug 20.
The drama tells the romantic love story of emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and his empress Ruyi.
The two dramas have set their main story in a similar background — namely, within the period of Chinese emperor Qianlong, a clever yet amorous ruler in ancient China.
The Story of Yanxi Palace mainly tells the story of Wei Yingluo, who rises from a lowly maid into the respected Ling Concubine, one of the emperor’s favorite consorts. Another drama chronicles the tortuous life story of the Qianlong Emperor and Ruyi Ula-nara, the step-empress.
The two dramas have been compared frequently on many criteria, from setting to plot to casts and production values.
相信不少盆友已經對令妃視角下的《延禧攻略》的劇情相當熟悉（回顧戳這裡），那麼繼皇后視角下的《如懿傳》又講的是一個什麼樣的故事呢？

作為宮鬥神劇《後宮·甄嬛傳》的姐妹篇續集，《如懿傳》講述的是甄嬛養子弘曆登上皇位之後的故事。劇中會有不少熟悉角色的身影，而人物關係更是錯綜複雜↓↓↓
劇情大體上是這樣的：
宜修皇后失寵後，烏拉那拉一族也相繼失勢，如懿（周迅飾）學會了宮鬥之道，一步一步爬上後位。但就在識破多場陰謀，並成功自證清白之後，她與乾隆（霍建華飾）的關係也變得無可挽回。最終，如懿對丈夫和後宮中的殘酷現實不再抱有幻想。儘管帝後二人之間的愛與信任逐漸消失，但如懿仍恪守皇后職責，直至去世。
With the Ula–Nara clan in disgrace after Empress Yixiu falls out of favor, Ruyi (Zhou Xun) learns the politics of the harem and steadily climbs the ranks to become empress. Even after surviving multiple conspiracies and successfully proving her innocence, her relationship with Qianlong (Wallace Huo) had become irreparable. Ruyi eventually becomes disillusioned with her husband and the harsh reality of life in the palace. Although the love and trust between she and Qianlong gradually disappeared, Ula–Nara served as a distinguished empress until her death.
而這部劇的人物，也有不少能和《延禧攻略》中的角色一一對應起來，只不過畫風可就大不相同了，感覺就像正反派互換了劇本（笑）~
Ula-Nara Ruyi，The Step Empress
作為乾隆的側室，如懿對其一見鍾情。然而，烏拉那拉氏的敗落影響了她在後宮立足，只被封妃。如懿憑藉著自己的堅強與決心，在摯友侍衛凌雲徹與導師吉太嬪的幫助下，在宮鬥中存活了下來，並逐漸升至後位。
One of Qianlong's secondary wives, Ruyi falls in love with him at first sight. Unfortunately, the Ula-Nara family's reputation affected her standing in the palace, and she was only granted the position of a consort. She survives inner palace machinations through her strength and determination, as well as with the help of her close friend Ling Yunche and mentor Dowager Imperial Concubine Ji, and rises up the ranks to become empress.
Aisin-Gioro Hongli，Qianlong Emperor
雍正帝第四子，與養母皇太后鈕祜祿·甄嬛關係緊張。他是個自私又缺乏安全感的統治者，多疑的天性也讓他對深愛自己的如懿並不信任。
Fourth son of the Yongzheng Emperor who has a strained relationship with his foster mother Zhenhuan, the Empress Dowager Niohuru. A selfish and insecure ruler, his suspicious nature caused him to become distrustful of Ruyi despite her love for him.
Fuca Langhua, Empress Xiaoxianchun
嫻靜優雅的富察·琅嬅同時也是為了鞏固後位的精明女子。她常與高晞月聯手陷害如懿，但也深知自己被反派·金玉妍利用。琅嬅深愛皇上，但表達的方式卻常常是錯誤的，令他人有機可乘，讓她成為替罪羊。
Elegant and refined, she is a shrewd woman who had her sights set on the throne. She often collaborated with Gao Xiyue to frame Ruyi, though she was oblivious to the fact that Jin Yuyan was also using her as a pawn. Langhua loves the emperor, but often expresses her intentions the wrong way, giving others the chance to use her as a scapegoat.
Wei Yanwan, Empress Xiaoyichun
野心勃勃而又殘忍陰險的魏嬿婉出身黃旗貴族，卻因父親企圖叛國，被貶為宮女。她的初戀是侍衛凌雲徹，但在獲得乾隆注意後（由於酷似如懿），而離開了愛人。她害死了不少嬪妃、皇嗣，也是導致如懿最終身亡的始作俑者。
Ambitious, cruel, and treacherous, Yanwan was born a noble lady of the Yellow Banner, but was reduced to being a palace maid after her father was tried for treason. Her first love was Ling Yunche, though she abandoned him after Qianlong took notice of her (due to her close resemblance to Ruyi). She is responsible for the death of many imperial consorts, children, and Ruyi’s ultimate demise.

Keliyete Hailan，Noble Consort Yu
溫柔堅定的海蘭是如懿的密友。一開始，海蘭只是乾隆府邸的小繡女，正是如懿為其出頭討回一個格格的名分。她是皇上最鍾愛的皇子永琪的生母，是後宮中一位十分具有影響力的嬪妃。
Gentle yet determined, she is a loyal friend and confidante of Ruyi. Hailan was initially an embroidery worker in Qianlong's residence until Ruyi helped her gain the title of mistress. The mother of Yongqi, the emperor's favorite son, Hailan is an exceptionally influential consort in the harem.

Gao Xiyue, Imperial Noble Consort Huixian
高晞月詭計多端，選擇追隨更有權勢的富察皇后，並屢次助她加害如懿。後來，晞月失寵，被富察皇后嫌棄。不久，她發現正是琅嬅害死了她的兒子。臨死之際，她向乾隆揭發了琅嬅的惡行。
A scheming woman who chose to submit to the more powerful Empress Fuca and often helped her plot against Ruyi. Xiyue was discarded by Langhua after she lost the emperor’s favor, and then discovered that the empress was the one who harmed her son. On her death bed, she exposed Langhua's evil deeds to Qianlong.
