皮卡丘讓小侄女用英語介紹家人
她首先想到介紹家有幾口人
於是聽到：My family has five people.
皮卡丘趕緊糾正了這句英文表達

中式英語：My family has five people.
地道表達：There are five of us in my family.
由於漢語和英語的語序不同，說話的重點也不同，英語表達偏向用「it」，「there be」以及名詞性主語開頭。而中國學生則習慣用「I，we，they，my」等開頭的句子，不僅通篇句式單一，也打破了英語表達的語言習慣。
所以以下兩種翻譯模式
My family has XX people.
My family is of XX people.
說出來是能理解的，不過有點像硬翻.
有些家庭裡有很多的成員
我們把其稱之為「大家庭」
那麼「大家庭」是用 ：
big family 還是 large family？
兩者都可以表達大家庭，只是程度不同
一般大家庭我們最好使用big family
large family 通常至少有10人以上
例句：
①A smallholding in the hills could not support a large family.
②I don't think we ever made a conscious decision to have a big family
我覺得我們沒有刻意地決定要生很多孩子。
而是指準備生小孩
Family 在英文裡可以指：
子女，尤其指年幼的子女。
Start a family=have children
例句：
They decided to start a family.
他們決定要孩子。
因為它是「我懷孕了」的意思
口語表達：to have one on the way也有懷孕，新生兒即將出生的意思
例句：
Did you hear the good news? Pikachu is in the family way!
你知道那個好消息了嗎，皮卡丘懷孕啦！
懷孕還可以說：
以及我們常說的敗家子，敗敗類
例句：
Pikachu is the black sheep of his family. He had almost ruined his father's Business.
家譜（族譜）：family tree
單親家庭：single-parent family
直系親人：immediate family
家裡的頂梁柱：the anchor of the family (anchor除了表示拋錨外，還可指給予安全感的人或物，精神支柱，頂梁柱）
家庭交際圈：family circle
家庭暴力：domestic / family violence
家庭聚會：family gathering
顧家的人：family-centered person
代代相傳：run in the family
