導演陳俊志長年關注性別議題,拍攝多部紀錄片《無偶之家,往事之城》、《不只是喜宴》,其中《美麗少年》紀錄葉永志在學校遭受霸凌,離奇喪命的事件,喚醒臺灣對於性平等教育的忽視,近而鑄下遺憾的悲傷故事。
本片於1999年入選山形國際紀錄片影展的同個單元,陳俊志導演也曾於2011年擔任該單元評審。導演陳俊志因心因性休克 (高血壓心臟病)2018年在家中過世,年僅51歲。
