Before dying he wrote a letter to a blind girl, expressing his love to her. On the day he was executed, the blind girl planted an almond tree in front of his tomb to give expression of her missing. And this day is Valentine’s Day, February 14th.
臨刑前聖瓦倫丁給姑娘寫了封信表明了自己對姑娘的深情。在他被處死的當天，盲女在他墓前種了一棵開紅花的杏樹，以寄託自己的情思。這一天就是2月14日。
Gradually, February 14th became the date for exchanging love messages and St. Valentine became the patron saint of lovers. The date was marked by sending poems and simple gifts such as flowers.
