You Raise Me Up由在挪威音樂界享有盛譽，曾為不同的音樂家擔任作曲、監製並身兼鍵盤師、神秘園的兩位主要成員之一的羅爾夫·拉夫蘭作曲。當羅爾夫閱讀了愛爾蘭作家兼詞人布蘭登·格瑞翰所著的暢銷小說《最白的花》後，頗受感動，力邀布蘭登為曲子填詞。
