年長的人或是長輩，我們是用 older還是elder 呢？本期跟你分享如何正確使用elder 和older？
1. older 指年齡大小而言，既可以用於家庭成員之間也可以用於非家庭成員之間
My elder sister is two years older than I am.
我姐姐比我大兩歲
Ms. Wang is older than I am by two years.
王小姐比我大兩歲
2. older...than 比...大() elder ...than()
she is two years older than I am
she is two years elder than I am
她比我大兩歲
3.elder 可以做形容詞和名詞 older 只能做形容詞
My elder brother is two years older than I am.
我哥哥比我大兩歲
Children should respect their elders.
孩子們應該尊重他們的長輩
4. elder 一般指年長的人
elder(older) brother /elder sister
哥哥/姐姐
younger sister/younger brother
妹妹/弟弟
5. elder 具有身份或是地位較高的人/長輩
the village elders
村裡面德高望重的人
6. elder 只能修飾人不能修飾事物，older既可以修飾人也可以修飾事物
Jack is two years older than Jenny
傑克比珍妮大兩歲
Pottery is the oldest art in the world.
