Lucy Little Crane lived in a yard.
She lived with lots of big Cranes.
「I don’t want to be a little crane,』
She said to Billy Big Crane.
「I want to lift big slabs to make a house.」
「Your hook is too thin to lift big slabs,」 said Billy.
「I want to lift big poles to make a bridge,」 said Lucy.
「Your hook is too thin to lift big poles,」 said Billy.
Freddy Fire Truck came by the yard.
「A boy is in a drain.
I want a crane to get him out,」 he said.
「I will get him out,」 said Billy.
But Billy Big Crane could not get the boy out.
Billy was too big.
「 I want a little crane,」 Freddy said.
「I am a little crane,」 said Lucy.
「My hook is thin. It will go down the drain.」
「I will get the boy out.」 And she did!
