Hello E-Speller friends!
I’m very sad because my basil plant died while I was away during the Spring Festival.
But I’m going to take this opportunity to teach you an English phrase.
Together we are going to watch this plant rise from the ashes.
The phrase 「rise from the ashes」 comes from the story of the phoenix. When phoenixes die, they burst into flame and then turn into ash. From the ashes, a new bird is born and rises from the ashes.
You can use this phrase to talk about something that was renewed or rebuilt after being destroyed. Here are some examples:
I hope in a few weeks my basil plant will have risen from the ashes. I will take a picture of my plant every day. Then after it has risen from the ashes, I will make a video to share the progress with you.
Please send lots of positive energy so my plant will rise again!
