aim at 為「不及物動詞+介詞」構成的短語動詞，起及物動詞作用，可直接用作謂語，既可表示動作，亦可表示狀態;它還有「瞄準，對準」的意思。例如：
I wonder what he was aiming at.
我不知道他當時的目的何在。
It seems that you are aiming at being a linguist.
看來你一心想成為語言學家。
He aimed at the boar and fired.
他瞄準野豬開了槍。
be aimed at中的aimed為過去分詞，需同be動詞連用，它只表示狀態。例如：
The visit was aimed at expanding relations between the two countries.
這次訪問的目的是發展兩國關係。
The measure they have taken are aimed at gaining complete control over the government.
他們採取這些措施的目的是想完全控制政府。
aim for比其他兩個詞都更強調最終目的，不怎麼常用。例如：
I'm aiming for greater, faster, better and more economical results in my work and study.
在學習和工作上我力求多、快、好、省。
We aim for the completion of the task by the end of the year.
我們的最終目的是最遲在年底完成這項工作。
