1.兩詞同義並可換用，但although語氣較重，通常放在句首並用於正式場合。如：
I'd quite like to go out, (al)though it is a bit late. 我很想外出，雖然為時稍晚。
Although it was snowing, it was not very cold. 雖然下著雪，但並不很冷。
2.用though 時，可將強調的詞前置，但although 不能。as也有此種倒裝結構。如：
Poor though / as he is , he is happy.雖然他窮，但過得很愉快。
Child though / as she was, the actress was drawing a crowd. 儘管還是個孩子，這個女演員卻引起了人們的注目。（child前無冠詞a）
3. although 引導從句常指事實，而though 引導的句子可表假設。如：
Let's start as arranged though it rains tomorrow. 即使明天下雨，咱們也按預定的計劃出發吧。（假設）
He was not unhappy although he had to live alone. 雖然得一個人生活，他毫無不快之感。（事實）
4.although 只用作連詞，而though 除作連詞外，還可用作副詞，常置句末，句子較長時，也置於句中。如：
It's hard work, I enjoy it though. 這是苦差事，可我幹得頗有樂趣。
There's no excuse, though , for hurting her feelings. 傷到她的感情一事，還是不可原諒。
5.though 可用於even though, as though 等結構，although則不能。如：
Even though I fail, I'll keep on trying. 我縱然失敗，仍會繼續嘗試下去。
You look as though (=as if ) you know each other. 看起來你們好像彼此認識。
6. although 和 though 用作連詞時不能和but連用，但可跟yet, still 等連用。如：
Although he lives alone, yet he is happy. = He lives alone, but he is happy. 他雖然單獨生活，但很愉快。
7.though 常用於省略句。如：Though (he is) alone, he is happy.
