02dead
死的，失去生命的，枯萎的
死人，死者

The man we thought dead walked bodily into the room.

We sawed the dead branches off the tree.

03deadly
(可能)致命的，致死的
極度的,十足的
It was deadly poison and if he drank it he'd probably die.
那是致命的毒藥，如果他喝了可能會死。
He has become my deadly enemy.
他成了我的死對頭。
The weekly meeting tends to be deadly dull.
每周的例會往往非常乏味。
04death
死，死亡，生命的終止，死亡狀態
He was stabbed to death in a fight.
他在一次搏鬥中被刺死。
There is no medicine against death.
沒有長生不老藥。
Twenty years after the event, his death remains a mystery .
事件發生20年後，他的死仍然是個謎。
05用法注意
這幾個詞在使用時要注意以下幾點：
1，分清楚詞性：
die是動詞，現在分詞dying也可以做形容詞「臨終的，臨死的」；
dead是形容詞，deadly不是它的副詞形式，也是形容詞；
Some think he is dead.
有人認為他死了。
death是名詞。
2，die of和die from有區別
die of和die from都是「死於…」的意思，如果我們不想區別，也可以：
She died of/from hunger/cancer/a heart attack/her injuries.
她死於飢餓/癌症/心臟病/受傷。
但最好還是把它們用在不同的情況：
死於自身疾病或悲傷等最好用died of；死於其它原因可以用die from:
She died of a brain tumour.
她死於腦瘤。
He died of liver cancer.
他死於肝癌。
He was rushed to hospital but he died from his injuries.
他迅速被送到醫院，但還是傷重不治。
The plants died from want of water.
這些植物因缺水而枯死了。
3，die是短暫性動詞，表示持續的動作，要用be dead代替。
