詞義辨析之近形異義（一）

1.in no time / after a long time / ahead of time / behind the time

★辨析：

in no time 立刻，馬上

after a long time 過了很久

ahead of time 提前

behind the time 不合時宜

【例】With five hungry children seated around the table, the food would disappear _______.

A.in no time

B.after a long time

C.ahead of time

D.behind the time

 

2.instead of / on the behalf of / in place of / in case of

★辨析：

instead of 代替...，而不是...(用在名詞，代詞或介詞短語前)

on the behalf of 代表，一般指代表某些人或公司等

in place of 代替...，通常後接名(代)詞，可與instead of互換

in case of 假設, 萬一

【例】The general manager signed the agreement ________ the company.

A. instead of

B. on the behalf of

C. in place of

D. in case of

 

3.get on with / come up with / do away with / go on with

★辨析：

get on with 繼續(幹某事);和...友好相處

come up with 想出(計劃、回答);作出(反應);產生

do away with 擺脫;廢除;取消;消滅

go on with 與某人或某物繼續下去

【例】Simon does not ________ his fellow workers because they often argue over trivial matters.

A. get on with

B. come up with

C. do away with
