2020 was one to remember. As we are well into 2021, a new chapter unveils new challenges, uncertainties, as well as opportunities.
度過令人難忘的2020年,我們終於迎來了2021年。在迎接新機遇的同時,每個人也面臨著未知和挑戰。
The world has suffered from many difficulties: COVID, economic crisis, violence, civil unrest, regional conflicts etc. There was rarely a moment like this is in the past that makes us realize the connection and interdependence of different people and parts of the world. 7.5 billion people sharing the same planet calls for a stronger awareness of Global Citizenship.
當今世界充滿了各式各樣的棘手問題:新冠流行、經濟衰退、社會動亂、地區衝突等。在每天更新的新聞報導中,我們意識到千裡之外的某個角落,正在發生著緊急甚至災難性的事件,我們緊繃的神經再次被撥動;全球將近75億的人口面臨著共同的困境,有時候讓人束手無策,舉步維艱. 或許再沒有比此刻更能讓人真切地體會到危機的迫近。人類的偉大在於應對災害時結為休戚相關的共同體,屹立不倒!世界公民的意識已經越發強勁!
What is a Global Citizen?
But what is a Global Citizen? We might hear and use the word from time to time, and we want to know—how could we actively be one? In short, Global Citizens are 「people who want to learn about and take action on the world’s biggest challenges.」 Here at Kinglee, cultivating young talents with a global mindset is at heart.
那麼什麼是真正的「世界公民」呢?世界公民,是指了解和關注當今世界面臨的重大困境和挑戰,並希望通過行動來改善問題的人群。在勤禮外語中學,每一位教育者與學生朝夕相處。驅動著我們的核心力量,正是將勤禮學子培養成具有國際視野的世界公民。
Kinglee-Global Citizen Project
As global citizens, we should take the responsibility to identify the problems in the world, and try to find the roles we can play in helping to solve those problems. Last week, the school promoted a Global Citizen Project for Senior High students to divert ideas into action. In this assignment, students worked in small groups and delved deep into one global crisis that has affected multiple people or countries. They studied the process and causes, and proposed a feasible solution. More importantly, students reflected how global citizenship could play a role in this project. They could present their works by different means.
作為世界公民,我們要懷有責任感和使命感,發現人類所面臨的困境,思考並承擔我們在解決方案中的角色。上周,勤禮中學為高中學生設計了一項別出心裁、具有意義的「世界公民實踐活動」。同學們以小組合作的形式,選取一個當今世界面臨的問題,分析和探討它的發展過程和成因,並提出可行的解決方案。同學們可以使用各種形式,以短視頻為載體來表達自己的探究結果。
From the works submitted, we are very pleased to see how students could discuss worldwide issues, such as pandemics, drugs, water shortage, economic recessions, from a creative and an insightful perspective. We are greatly inspired to be a diligent global citizen and to make a difference through our endeavors. The videos our students created are full of educational insights and inspirations!
大家合作完成的作品中充滿著驚喜!我們很高興地看到一些諸如新冠疫情、毒品成癮、水資源短缺、經濟衰退等「宏大」議題,用學生觸手可及的方式,展現在公眾面前。我們期待以這樣的方式喚醒大家的意識,積「跬步」以至千裡,匯「小流」以成江海,引起關注!這些議題不再只是遙遠的概念,我們相信,通過每一個人的努力,每個人持續的關注和支持,可以讓世界更美好!
