Per the local media on May 29, statistics show that in the first quarter of this year, Hangzhou's digital economy withstood the COVID-19 pandemic and registered operational revenue of 232.37 billion yuan ($32.5 billion), a year-on-year growth of 5.4%. A 9.6-percent rise was also seen in the added value of industries above a designated size, and 84.6% of such enterprises have realized digital transformation. Hangzhou has also fulfilled its foreign investment target ahead of schedule, and 49 projects – with each worth over 1 billion yuan ($14 million) – are being carried out in the city, attracting a total investment of 138.7 billion yuan. Hangzhou also topped Chinese cities in terms of the net inflow of high-end talent, especially those specializing in internet-related fields. The Chinese mainland reported 16 new imported COVID-19 cases Sunday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 1,756, the National Health Commission said Monday.
Among the cases, 11 were reported in Sichuan Province, three in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and two in Guangdong Province, the commission said, adding that no new suspected cases were reported.
Of all the imported cases on the mainland, 1,694 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 62 remained hospitalized, the commission said.
No deaths had been reported from the imported cases.
Over 60,000 people in Wuhan took nucleic acid tests, no silent carriers found!
More than 60,000 people in Wuhan took COVID-19 nucleic acid tests on Sunday. No asymptomatic infections were found, according to the local health authority.
This is the first time that the number of new silent carriers is zero since the city reported asymptomatic infection cases, which shows nucleic acid testing and screening work has achieved significant results.
Excavated shell mound ruins believed to be around 8,000 years old
A shell mound ruins excavated in Yuyao county of Ningbo are believed to be the earliest of its kind found in coastal areas in China, archeologists said at a news conference on May 30.
The Jingtoushan ruins, located in the Sanqishi town in Yuyao, were first found in 2013 and are dated back to 7,800 years to 8,300 years ago, about 1,000 years earlier than the Hemudu Neolithic culture, also found in Yuyao.
The Jingtoushan findings further advanced the history of human origin in Ningbo by over 1,000 years, archeologists said.
NetEase prepares for Hong Kong secondary listing
NetEase, one of China's leading internet and online game service providers, said Friday that it will seek a secondary listing in Hong Kong. William Ding, CEO of NetEase noted the information in a letter to shareholders on May 22.
The Nasdaq-listed firm raked in 59.2 billion yuan (about $8.4 billion) in net revenue last year, a 15.7-percent growth, according to its unaudited financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2019.
Huawei develops computing industry in Zhejiang
Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has been helping to develop the computing industry in Zhejiang province in recent years using its latest Kunpeng processors.

The Binjiang Institute of Zhejiang University was also launched as the official operator of the center.
Analysts said Zhejiang's booming digital economy is an important reason why Huawei decided to develop the Kunpeng computing industry in Zhejiang.
In Binjiang district, the added value of core digital industries reached 120.16 billion yuan ($16.81 billion) in 2019, up 16.5% year-on-year and accounting for 75.5% of the regional GDP.

In addition, Zhejiang's No 1 Project for developing digital economy, the At Most One Visit reform for streamlining administrative procedures, and the City Brain intelligent urban management system have laid a solid foundation for the Kunpeng computing industry.
The 5G era also presented an opportunity for Zhejiang to develop its digital economy. The province plans to build 80,000 5G base stations by 2022.

The provincial government of Zhejiang also signed an agreement with Huawei last November to establish an industrial alliance for developing the Kunpeng computing industry in Zhejiang. The alliance now has 115 members, including Zhejiang Lab.
