On December 6, 2020, the editorial department of China City Planning Review (CCPR) will organize the 「Special Session: Creating Cities of Sharing Through Planning」 at the 14th IACP Annual Conference that will be held on December 5 - 13, 2020. Welcome to attend the session!

The rise of the sharing economy has brought about earth-shaking changes in the fields of transportation, housing, medical care, knowledge and skills, and production capacity, etc., which has further affected the living and working style, economic and social organization, urban form and structure, and urban governance mode in cities. What kind of 「Shared cities」 will these sharing phenomena lead to?From the economic perspective, the sharing economy, including production sharing and human resource sharing, is a new industrial model which was born from information and technology advancement and is integrated with a total new commercial operation system. From the societal perspective, the phenomena of information sharing and subsistence means sharing recreate a new fusion between real and virtual worlds, behind which is the redefinition and redistribution of individual and public rights and responsibilities. From the spatial perspective, the sharing of transportation, public facilities, working and living spaces facilitate new models of reorganization and distribution of urban spaces, with innovative supply pattern of private and public spaces. From the planning perspective, smart technology and sharing mechanism bring new ideas of resource link and spatial arrangement which will further promote innovations of planning concepts and planning governance.
Around all these hot topics, it is worth of broad attention and in-depth discussion with views from various disciplines. With the help of IACP, CCPR is planning to organize a special session with the topic of 「Creating Cities of Sharing through Planning」, inviting 4 experts to share their ideas from different perspectives and have a deep discussion. This session is sponsored by Beijing Tsinghua Tongheng Urban Planning & Design Institute, in collaboration with School of Architecture, Tsinghua University.
