中秋節在英文裡是Mid-Autumn Festival，這是直接按照中秋節逐字翻譯過來的。
Mid是中middle的簡稱，比如期中考試就是mid-term exams或直接說mid-terms。
autumn是秋天；美國人在口語裡用fall來表示秋天，秋天落葉，原義「落下」的fall也就成了秋天的意思。
Festival表示「節日」，也有部分節日用day來表示這個意思。比如：Teachers' Day教師節。
如果想要使用比較正式的表達方式，一定要記得使用定冠詞「the」，是The Mid-Autumn Festival。
中秋節有一項主要活動就是賞月，外國人根據這項賞月的活動，稱中秋節為月亮節，即Moon Festival.
Mooncake Festival，這個中秋節的英文說法，源於中秋節的另一項活動--吃月餅。
月餅在外國，人稱為Mooncake，而這個節日就被稱為月餅節，即Mooncake Festival。
這是一個帶中國風的英文說法，Zhongqiu為中秋的漢字拼音，後面加上節日便是Zhongqiu Festival。
類似這種中國風的翻譯還有很多，如Kung fu(功夫)，Taiji(太極)等。
