芝加哥，原定17:40起飛的美聯航3411航班上，出現超額預售機票情況，然而此時飛機已經坐滿了。按程序，空乘首先在機上徵求的志願者，自願改籤，每人可以得到$400的賠償，並由航空公司提供臨時住宿。
第一次徵詢無果，賠償金提高到$800依舊沒有人願意，美聯航稱通過電腦隨機抽選了4名旅客並告知，在兩名乘客和平下機後，一位乘客表示自己是醫生，第二天有預約病人所以要趕到醫院，必須乘坐這趟航班。
但交涉無果後，空乘呼叫了機場保安，將其暴力「請」下機，口中流血。

The tag 「UnitedAirlines forcibly removes passenger from aircraft」 was the top trending item onWeibo on Tuesday. As noon approached the topic had garnered 46m readers and34,000 comments on the popular Twitter-like platform.

The incident,in which a man is dragged screaming and bleeding from an overbooked flight, hadalready ignited a social media firestormon the anglophone Internet. But it found fresh kindling in China after acomment from another passenger was translated into Chinese.
