1948年的某江南水鄉，壯年男子都被徵去當兵，剩下的都是有殘疾的男人及老弱婦孺。車夫丁大山在破廟的離奇死亡打破了這個水鄉的平靜，從現在遺留的六寸半鞋印及一隻繡花鞋來看，疑兇的焦點落在了以刺繡聞名的蘇二（林心如 飾）身上。案件被認為是通姦謀殺，傳統守舊的鄉紳帶領鄉民瘋狂地將蘇二處以「浸 豬籠」極刑，遺下蘇二一雙未成年的兒女絕望無助。可是自此之後，水鄉接二連三發生命案，先是編豬籠的程南（景岡山 飾）之妻被竹片穿心而死，接著又有鄉紳離奇死亡，更有甚者看見蘇二在夜晚的水鄉飄然出現，到底背後的真相是什麼……

我肝腸俱裂，一步上前，跪下一把抱住痛苦中，拼命哭嚎掙扎著控制不住自己的老甘，悲泣道：「我知道，兄弟！我們沒得選，沒得選啊……」
老甘慟哭著，在我懷裡奮力掙扎著，一手狠狠拍著我後背，嚎道：「我受不了！受不了！」
我倆手奮力如鐵鉗一般死死的勒住他，滾著熱淚，當頭棒喝道：「受不了也得受！這是軍令！我們不能讓下面兄弟們的血白流！」
連同老甘，戰壕裡所有戰友渾身一激靈；似被寒風透了骨，顫抖著，抽泣著，沉默了。地面上炮聲隆隆，塹壕裡一片死寂！我終於壓服了情緒激動幾近衝動送死的三排和老甘……
一片沉默悲戚之中，我稍稍平靜了下心緒，打開TRC540問：「老梁，你們那兒怎樣？」
老梁同樣掩不住抽泣聲，回道：「老廖，放心，有我……」
還好，剩下的六連兄弟們再沒老鄧一般心如烈火，稟性執拗，具有一定威信的人領頭。再加上沒攜來防化服的他們，雖然苦痛不堪，終沒人真有決心衝下濃煙與毒霧瀰漫的山嶺，去送死；固然他們同樣有這勇氣。
聞言，放下了心的我，心頭仿佛壓上了千鈞重擔一般沉重道: 「小彭，關閉861！」
我明白連長的心意，他怕我們受不了，更怕我們受不了下面戰友們的絕望的斥責。雖然不敬人情，但這是為下面戰友好，也是為我們好。因為這要是通報下去，誰都受不了。人間最可怕的恐懼莫過於死，但比死更可怕的是絕望。我們不想讓4、5連的兄弟們在絕望中走完自己的最後一程，更不敢用虛偽空洞的言辭欺騙甚至是鼓動他們，因為那樣只會增加我們的負罪感。所以我們只有沉默，痛苦的沉默……
彭勝軍瞪大了滾湧著淚的雙眼，不甘的看著我，低聲抽泣，渾身抽搐著，怎也提不起手。我理解他的心情。
見他艱難著摁不下開關，我沉痛道了聲，到了他身邊，躬身伸出手來，道：「我來吧！」
雖然經過我這麼一折騰，他亦接受了這難以接受的殘酷現實，但他依然在我瞬間差異的眼神中，飛快伸出了他的手擋住了我的手：「等等！三排長，我有個請求……」
我縮回手，徒勞的抹著止不住的淚，沉聲道：「你說！」
彭勝軍隨即苦苦哀求道：「三排長，能讓4、5的戰友們死得明白麼？我不想讓他們以為咱六連是冷血無情的屠夫！」
一言未畢，我與兄弟們止不住的淚再度譁啦著流淌起來。
我艱難哽咽著，指了指自己喉嚨，淚道：「我、我說不出口，更怕他們受不了……」
彭勝軍慟哭道：「我們還有連長……連長也許能！三排長，就是讓4、5連的戰友們怨我們，恨我們，也讓他們別做糊塗鬼，行嗎？就是咱再心狠，咱也不能作對自己兄弟打黑炮的人！」
彭勝軍說服了我，我流著淚，重重點頭著，再度打開了TRC540便攜電臺：「王建？要連長……」
連長的聲音依然不帶著一絲情感，冷漠道：「說……」
我痛聲道：「連長，我想給4、5連的戰友們給個交代……別讓他們作糊塗鬼，行嗎？」
連長仍然那樣惜字如金，道：「可以。」
我遲疑著，兩眼滾湧著淚，艱難道：「可我……可我開不了口！連長，您能不能……」
當時的根本那時連長是怎樣想的，依然沒得一絲情感，依然冷冰冰著，仿佛就和4、5連的戰友們似陌生人一般，淡定自若，沒得分毫遲疑著，迅速答道：「也行，不過我同樣有個條件……」
我痛哭著，詫異道：「什麼條件？」
連長用他固有冷漠著，不容置疑的語調，以命令的語調道：「你們必須打開861電臺，讓每一個六連的人聽到！」
霎時，我腦子頓似埃霹靂頓然懵了。早已傷痕累累的內心，再被連長滅絕人性，冷冰冰的一句如利劍穿透了心，再狠狠撒上了一把鹽，劇痛難當。兩頰涓涓不絕的熱淚頓如激流奔湧，令我立時拼了命奮力掙扎著，嚎哭著憤怒的質問道：「為什麼！？為什麼！？為什麼你我們受不了，你還要這麼進一步傷害我們！？難道你就連點憐憫之心都不能給咱和4、5連的兄弟們麼！？你這人咋這麼冷血！？你冷血還要逼著跟你一樣冷血，把咱六連冷血到底是不是！？連長，我求您了！炮我們能打！一定能打！您就別再給咱六連添這份兒痛；給咱六連留點人性，留點良心，留點戰友情，留點熱血，有個能自己騙自己的理由行不行！？同志們已經受不了啊，您咋還能這樣給咱雪上加霜！？」
真不知連長是怎麼想的，這樣的情況下他竟然在電臺那頭冷酷的厲聲道：「因為你們讓我失望了！3分30秒……你們竟然耽誤了整整3分30秒才決定執行我下達的作戰命令！？令行禁止，知道不？這是對你們的懲罰！
從開赴老山到現在，六連打了不下百場大小戰鬥；可從今天看來，你們和我所希望你們作為一名合格的、優秀的軍人的距離還很遠……這是我給你們的教訓！一個刻骨銘心的教訓！之所以走到這一步，你們不想，我也不想，但既然都走到了這步，作為一名合格的、優秀的軍人就該當斷則斷，而不是哭哭啼啼的作小娘坯！
知道為什麼你們走一步嗎？那是因為你們還不夠優秀，還不夠強！就因為你們還不夠優秀，不夠強；所以你們救不了他們！就因為他們不夠優秀，不夠強，所以他們落得個如此結局！
走這步，你不願看到，我也不願看到；你不想接受，我也不想接受！但戰爭就是你死我活，稍有片刻的懦弱與遲疑，都是身死命絕的悲慘結局。作為一名合格、優秀的軍人，你們就該有這覺悟！
今天就是因為他們這看似勇敢的懦弱，看似果決的遲疑，看似義氣的無知蠻勇直接造成了現在的苦痛結局。這是他們自己在找死，怪不得別人！作為一名真正優秀的合格軍人，你就該果斷的去成全他們，而不是在這裡期期艾艾！如果他們要怪就只有怪他們自己還不夠強！戰場之上，你們不夠強，那麼你們就該去死！
今天，他們不夠強，所以他們該死！如果明天，你們也不夠強，那麼你們也該跟我一起去死！我絕不許任何人，任何事，任何東西拖了我們的後腿！如果你們還撕不破這張臉皮，拋不去這些包袱，那麼你們就沒法變得更優
