雅思口語:遇到「今昔對比題」,該如何說?

各位烤鴨們可能發現了，雅思口語當中會有一類常考的題型是What are the differences between XXX today and those in the past?或者是變形的提問：Are/Do XXX more than in the past?那麼這一類題目的共同特點呢就是，需要把當下的情況和過去去進行對比。

根據柯林斯英漢雙解大詞典中的定義：The past is the time before the present, and the things that have happened。好了，糾結症患者不高興了，past，那昨天也算是past，10年前是past，甚至5000年前都是past，那我該怎麼選，還是都要提及，分類討論？那麼多past的時間，是不是講一年都講不完？

那麼這個題目，到底該怎麼去解決呢？其實咱們完全可以relax，這個題沒有這麼糾結。既然考題裡面沒有明確一個past的時間，那麼我們自己來定一個past的具體時間就可以啦。至於具體選什麼時間，大家完全可以根據，你覺得哪個past時間段和present區別明顯，比較好講，那你就選哪個時間段就行。沒有特別的要求。

Are parents these days stricter than those in the past？

這是一個part3的題目，來自本季children behave badly in public那個話題。首先我個人認為，現在的家長和20年前的家長相比，差別是比較明顯的。並且我認為現在的家長不會更嚴格，而是更加寬容。然後我會展開描述：過去家長嚴格+原因+細節，然後轉到現在家長寬容+原因+細節。（有些烤鴨們可能會os：20年前我都還沒出生呢。沒有關係，past可以用你出生之前的時間來描述的。）

大致結構如下：

Direct Answer：給出否定立場，表明自己立場：更加寬容（說明和20年前相比）

Past：嚴格

Reason：他們認為孩子只有被discipline了，才能優秀

Details：當孩子犯錯，會懲罰甚至體罰

Now：寬容

Reason：家長忙，沒時間陪孩子，對孩子寬容會讓家長less guilty

Details: 當孩子犯錯的時候，儘管家長說會給禁令，但是實際並未遵守

這裡解釋一下，提供理由是為了讓邏輯合理完整，而增加細節是為了讓內容更生動有說服力。

Are parents these days stricter than those in the past？

I don’t think so. Instead, I reckon that current parents are less strict, compared with parents 20 years ago.

In that era, it was a common view among parents that children couldn’t fulfil remarkable achievements unless they were strictly disciplined. Thus, when children made mistakes, parents would punish them harshly and corporally, such as spanking.

Whereas modern parents are more permissive in the time spent together, which will make them feel less guilty about their inadequate parenting caused by busy work. As a result, when children misbehave, although parents will claim that they do something like ground their children, they don't actually take it seriously.
