Whale Park is a typical street-level park project.In the process of urban development, the capacity of large-scale parks is tooconcentrated, while the revitalization of urban blocks, especially in urbanareas, requires a variety of scattered, small scale parks or pocket parks tosupplement the vitality of the urban blocks. In this context, the Whale Parkfunctions as a comprehensive of multiple functions, complex uses and activationof the surrounding community, while satisfying the needs of urban residents.鯨魚公園是一個典型的街心公園作品。在城市發展的過程中，大尺度的公園的承載力相對過於集中；而城市體塊尤其是城區內的發展復興需要多種散狀的、小規模的公園或口袋公園來補充活力。在這一背景下，鯨魚公園的功能作為一個兼具多樣使用功能、複合用途以及激活周邊社區發展，同時滿足城市居民生活的複合體而產生。"Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.」

一次街心公園的探索

AN EXPLORATION OF EXPERIMENT OF NEIGHORHOOD PARK

The Whale Park is located at theintersection of Junjun Road and Junli Road, Xiangfang District, Harbin,Heilongjiang Province, China. The project covers an area of approximately 1.61square meters and is part of a renovation project of the old city of Xiangfangdistrict, which includes residential, commercial streets and schools. As HarbinVanke's first entry project, ZAP hopes that the park will be an importantmilestone in the development of the downtown area and a vibrant park for thepublic to be fully participated.

項目位於黑龍江省哈爾濱市香坊區擁軍路與軍立路交匯處，佔地約1.61平方米，是一個包含住宅、商街、學校在內的香坊老城區煥新開發項目中有機構成的一部分。作為哈爾濱萬科首進項目，ZAP希望讓這個公園能夠是整個城市發展的一個重要節點，也是哈爾濱香坊區內的一處市民充分參與的場所。

The Whale Park is positioned to become a key green space in Harbin due to its unique geographic location in the city, bringing it closer to the public and creating a street corner garden embedded in the urban framework. The Whale Park needs to meet the practical demands of the various groups of people living in the city, including children and teenagers as well as adults.

由於其特殊的城市區域位置，鯨魚公園的定位是將會成為哈爾濱城市的一處重點綠色場所，將會帶來貼近市民生活，藏於城市結構中的街角花園。鯨魚公園需要滿足城市各種人群的實際使用需求，包含兒童與青少年以及成年人休憩等複合型公園。

Whale Park potential users

The design is an experiment in the interpretation of a street-level pocket park. When ZAP designers first came to the site, they were impressed by the bustling old town atmosphere and the fact that a railway track runs through the site. How to lightly renovate and upgrade the railroad tracks to a public recreation area with rich landscape scenes and historical value while ensuring the normal operation of the tracks twice a year.

設計是一處闡釋街心口袋公園的實驗之作。當ZAP設計師第一次來到項目現場時，便被周邊熱鬧的老城區氛圍所打動，場地內還有一條現狀鐵路軌道鋪設而過。項目如何在保證鐵軌一年兩次的正常運行的條件下，進行鐵路的景觀輕改造與提升，使其成了一個景觀場景豐富、保留歷史價值的公共休閒場所。

啟發與思考

INSPIRATIONS

Due to the specificity of the project's geographic location and the landmark significance of the rejuvenation of the city, as well as the fact that the park is surrounded by the neighboring buildings, the design team aimed to differentiate the landscape from the traditional showcase , in order to revitalize the site and reshape its spirit from the needs of its users. The design is intended to be different from the pure demonstration of show-area, but more focused on the needs of the users to activate the city vitality, reshape the spirit of the site and advocate a new style of life, "let the design into life, let the design into people's hearts", so that the park can really light up the tense and monotonous urban life.出於項目地理位置特殊性及城市煥新地標性意義的考慮，也由於公園被周邊的建築體所包圍。設計希望有別於傳統意義上的純展示性示範區景觀，設計團隊便著力於從使用人群所需出發，以激活城市活力，重塑場地精神，倡導生活新風尚，「讓景觀融入生活，讓設計深入人心」，讓公園真正的點亮原本緊張單調的都市生活。

海洋廣場門區——悅動的虎鯨

OCEAN PLAZA - FLOWINGWAVES WITH DELIGHTFUL WHALES

The park takes "ocean exploration byday, starlight adventure by night" as the theme, organizes every space andfunctional area, and takes a whale's journey of discovery as the guide,incorporating undulating ocean islands, rolling wild canyons, flowing waves andundulating icebergs as the elements, as well as the graphics of the parkpavement, signage, art installations and other vocabulary, linking up theentire touring route, establishing the most trendy interactive immersiveexperience of Harbin city and the most interactive, artistic, light and shadow,science and education outing destination.

公園以「白日海洋探索，夜間星光冒險」為主題，組織各個景觀空間和功能區，以一隻虎鯨的探索發現之旅為引領，融入起伏的海洋島嶼，連綿的野趣峽谷，流動的海浪及冰山起伏為設計要素，及公園鋪裝、標識、藝術裝置等設計語言語彙，串聯起整個場地的遊覽動線，打造哈爾濱地區最新潮的互動沉浸式體驗公園和最具互動性、藝術性、光影性、科教性的出遊目的地。

Our discovery route begins at the cornerentrance to the city's main boulevard, where the first thing you notice is the15-meter tall black and white whale sculpture that leaps above the square.

市政主幹道的街角入口處，最先映入眼帘就是躍然於廣場上方的高達15米的黑白虎鯨雕塑，我們的探索路線就從這裡開始。

Sculpture Design to Construction Process

The water feature with a jumping fountain,the simple glacier grill, the tree pond symbolizing the reefs in the sea, andthe orca whales that cross the surface of the sea are all a sight to behold,and the plaza has become a popular spot for photo-taking and fitness activitiesday and night.躍動的噴泉水景，造型簡潔的冰川格柵，象徵著海中礁石的休憩樹池，與越出海面的虎鯨相映成趣，無論白天夜晚，廣場上都聚集著慕名而來的拍照的遊客以及健身活動的市民，成為當地最具人氣的打卡聚集地。

As you walk along the wave-like flow of theplaza space, the park unveils its charms as layers of rolling seas andmeandering coastal canyons.

沿著海浪般流動的廣場空間前行，整個公園就如同層層波瀾的大海與蜿蜒起伏的海岸峽谷，在遊客面前逐步揭開它魅力的畫卷。

Popular street basketball and outdoor amphitheater

Sheltered by a grill of pure white icebergs and surrounded by rolling island grass slopes, is one of the park's most popular locations, an open, free, eco-friendly, all-weather, free outdoor basketball court.純白冰山格柵的掩映下，在起伏的島嶼草坡環繞中，是公園最具人氣的場地之一，一個開放、自由的生態型全天候免費戶外籃球場。

ZAP's design takes into consideration thefact that the court is not only used for daily basketball relaxation, but alsofor basketball competition. The grassy slope on one side of the court,combined with the shade of the trees, provides stone seats and lush grassslopes, making it the best place for outdoor spectators.

ZAP設計考慮到場地不僅僅作為市民日常籃球休閒的場地，更可作為街頭籃球比賽場地，在保留場地曲線造型的同時融入全場籃球場地尺寸考慮，採用滲水性強的地面材質，保障場地的多功能使用性。場地一側的草坡結合樹蔭設置石階座椅，鬱鬱蔥蔥的草坡，成為戶外觀賽的最佳場地。

The overall design of the interactive amphitheateris fully integrated with the use of sports and recreation at the same time, toprovide the adjacent residents a high-class leisure spot, a spaciousinteractive space.互動劇場的整體設計充分結合使用功能，在兼具運動與遊憩的同時，更為周邊居民提供了一流的運動休閒場所，一個開闊的互動性空間。

Walk to the right along the theater toreach the ecological hillside, where the topography changes to enrich thewalking experience for visitors. And combined with Vanke LOGO to form adistinctive display facade, which can also be clearly observed when strollingacross the opposite commercial street.

沿劇場往右走到達生態化的草坡，地形起伏變化豐富遊人行走觀感體驗，地形外側以多山峰組合為形態，並結合萬科LOGO形成特色展示面，漫步在對面商街也可以明顯看到這一特色展示面。

As the topography changes from the slope tothe central plaza of the park, you will experience the space expanding andrelieving as you walk. The original narrow path will open up and you will feelthe spaciousness of the space. It will be a gathering place for various eventsand can be used by a wide variety of people.隨著地形的變化由草坡入口緩緩的到達公園的中心廣場區域，邊走邊感受空間的不斷的打開舒緩。由原本收窄的空間而感受到豁然開闊的廣場展現出來。這裡也將是眾多活動聚集的場地，也兼具各種人群的使用需求。

林間棧道——探險海島

THE WOODLAND TRAIL - EXPLORING THE ISLANDS

↑ 島嶼般的空間組合，形成一個個凹凸空間滿足不同的小型休憩空間，讓休憩與海港的故事渾然一體 /The island-like combination forms aconcave-convex volume to meet different small recreational spaces, allowing therelaxation and the story of the harbor to be integrated.

Stroll through the green ecological oxygen passageand walk on the pedestrian landscape bridge among the vivid fairy like birchforests.

In the background of the park is a densejungle of white birch. Between the birch meanders like waves, is a pedestrianbridge. Walking across the bridge, in the light and shade of the birch shadyswaying between, not only overlook the park, but also to relax and immerse inthe natural beauty of oxygen heaven.

公園的背景，是一片茂密的白樺叢林。白樺林間如海浪般起伏蜿蜒的，是一座漫步景觀橋。於橋上穿行而過，在白樺婆娑的光影搖曳間，既可俯瞰全園，又可放鬆身心，沉浸於城市的自然氧吧之間。

To build such a pedestrian bridge in the forest, apart from enriching the vertical changing of the park and increasing the walking experience, ZAP team pays more attention to the use of "Grey Space" underbelow. Hence, the team used the 2.5M clear height strip space to create a playful crossing place - a swing theme campsite.打造這樣一座林間棧橋，除了豐富公園豎向變化,增添遊人的行進體驗外，ZAP更關注橋下灰空間的利用。因此，團隊利用橋下淨高2.5M的條帶空間傾情打造了一個充滿童趣的穿行場地——一個鞦韆主題特色營地。

A winding path through the shaded birch woods runs under a bridge. On one side of the path is a scientific rain garden featuring Harbin's native plants, and we have chosen a spot in the garden as a special display booth for a cross-sectional display of the rain garden.綠蔭如蓋的白樺林間，一條蜿蜒的小徑由橋下穿行而過，道路一側是以哈爾濱本地植物為特色的科普性雨水花園，我們在花園中選擇一處作為雨水花園剖面展示特色展示點。

By observing the soil structure and plant growth status at each level, such as filter layer, coarse sand layer, soil layer and compaction layer, the children can experience the natural growth process from a close angle.通過剖面觀察過濾層，粗砂層，土壤層，夯實層等各層次土壤功能及植物生長狀態，讓孩子們零距離感受自然生長的過程。

The entrance to the rain garden is named West Canyon, an area that uses stacked boulders to create the natural and wild atmosphere of Canada's West Canyon, allowing visitors to experience the amazing and magical experience of discovering an enchanted plant garden through a wild canyon.雨水花園的入口命名為西峽谷，這一區域使用塊石堆疊營造出加拿大西峽谷般自然野趣的場地氛圍，讓遊人切身感受到穿越野趣峽谷後發現魔法植物花園的驚喜與新奇的奇幻體驗。

Natural Exhibition: Ocean Fossil Ground Paving

In the midst of the laughter, in the sound of birds and flowers in the camp, you will unconsciously return to that childhood dream.在孩子們的歡聲笑語之間，在鳥語花香的營地之中，使人不知不覺又回到那個童年的夢境之中。

The winding path leads walkers through the West Canyon, strolling through a rain garden of magical vegetation, and finally to a wide rocky dry-spray plaza with the sound of bubbling water; fountains spouting rhythmically from the piled rocks form a beautiful symphony of nature, the ideal soundtrack for the crowd.那條蜿蜒的小徑引導遊人穿越西峽谷，漫步過魔法植物雨水花園，最終到達寬闊的伴著汩汩水流聲的巖石旱噴廣場；在堆砌的巖石中噴泉有節奏的噴出，形成大自然美妙的交響樂，成為與活動人群最契合的背景音。

THE RAIL-LOOP DISPLAY 

ZAP has designed a park tour railway station for children and parents to participate in parent-child activities. The train track is 300 meters long and passes through several heart of the park, from the white birch forest in the north to the fitness area in the south.ZAP打造了一處公園觀光小火車站點，供兒童及家長親子活動參與。小火車軌道全長300米，穿越公園幾大核心活動區域，北至白樺林間，南至公園健身區，坐上小火車兜上一圈，既能聆聽白樺林的風語，又能飽覽紅楓落葉翩翩，享受不同場地的豐富的觀光體驗。

CONCH PLAYGROUND

The central space of the park, surrounded by floating corridors, is an ocean-themed playground for kids. On top of the dark and light blue curves of the waves, ZAP team carefully depicted and projected a realistic conch-shaped slide, which became the most favorite amusement attraction of the children in the park.

被漂浮的廊架所圍合的公園中心空間，是一個以海洋為主題特色的兒童遊玩天地。波濤般的深藍與淺藍的曲線韻律場地之上，ZAP通過精心的刻畫與推演，一個活臨活現的海螺造型遊具滑梯躍然而出，成為場地內最受孩子們喜愛的遊樂器材。

WATER BAR WITH CARE HARBOUR

The winding corridor on the periphery of the site integrates rest, communication and parental care into an whole, light and transparent corridor, which is illuminated by the sunshine, altogether with the playground, in which forms a family one-stop recreation activity spot during the weekend, bringing a lively and memorable activity experience.場地外圍的風雨連廊，集休憩交流與家長看護為一體，輕盈而通透的連廊空間，在陽光的映照下光影綽約，與遊玩天地共同形成一個家庭假日周末一站式的休閒活動場地，帶來令人流連忘返的活動體驗。

↑ 公園的尾端也是起點，聚集人群的場所也為節日舉辦展示活動 /The last end of the park is the beginning, and the place where the public gather also hosts displays for the festival.

Along the winding path alongside Tongle Bay, the park ends at a plaza combined with a sleek and modern sales center building. Inspired by the "sea of stars and fish", the designers have created an artistic canvas of stars falling on the shimmering surface of the ocean.沿著同樂灣旁蜿蜒的小徑向前，公園的末端是與時尚明快的售樓處建築相結合的廣場場地。設計師們以「星光海洋、魚躍其間」為靈感來源，打造了一幅星光灑落在波光粼粼的海面般的藝術畫卷。

The paved plaza, which flows like a tidal wave, is strewn with oasis-like landscaped green islands, among which are not only scattered stars lights, but also embellished with interesting starlight lawn lights, adding a certain interest to the design.如潮汐般流動的鋪裝廣場上，錯落著綠洲般的景觀綠島，其間不僅散落著星星點點的景觀地燈，綠化上更點綴著趣味的星光草坪燈，為設計平添幾分趣味性。

The mirrored water feature under the building's water curtain harmonizes the site's artistry with its playfulness.建築水幕下的鏡面水景，更是將場地的藝術性與趣味性和諧統一。

As night falls and the lights begin to turn on, the adventure of the park is far from at an end.

In order to create an innovative all-day, 24-hour starlight thematic park, the ZAP team added more playful luminous swings, illuminated seesaws, starlit seats and a sparkling luminous sculptural logo to the traditional illumination, making the park brilliantly illuminated at night.為打造一個全天候，24小時精彩不斷的星光特色主題公園，ZAP團隊在傳統的燈具之外，增添更具趣味性的夜光鞦韆、發光蹺蹺板、星光座椅及夜光雕塑式LOGO，使夜間的公園星光璀璨，流光溢彩。

A glowing park with a 24-hour program experience. Utilizes different localized lighting to give the entire park a twinkling character.流光溢彩的公園，24小時活動體驗。利用不同的局部照明賦予整個公園的閃爍的氣質。

In the Summer evening, the beautiful autumn dusk, ignite the enthusiasm of Harbin people, the throngs of people, the sound of the audience, the vitality, the fun. Working together to write a starlight city of dream poetry scroll.在夏日的夜晚，美麗的秋日黃昏，點燃哈爾濱人的熱情，人潮湧動，人聲陣陣，活力四射，趣味橫生。共同書寫一個星光不夜城的夢幻詩卷。

感言

ENDING

The Whale Park is an attempt and exploration of ZAP's design in the urban public space. The design process involved several rounds of communication and sketch interpretation between the design team and the client, from the derivation of physical models to 3D models, which was a tough and difficult process to implement, but it was also accomplished through the rigorous design process and close collaboration with the client's dedicated control. The project was completed in the most difficult time of the epidemic of Covid-19 in early 2020, it is indeed not easy for the team, the client and the construction team to work together seamlessly to achieve such great results at this extraordinary moment, thanks to the efforts of ZAP and Vanke team for implementing and controlling this great project.鯨魚悅府公園是ZAP在城市公共空間的一次設計嘗試與探索，在其設計的過程中設計團隊與客戶進行了多輪次的設計溝通與草圖構思演繹。包括實體模型和3D模型的推演，這些過程在實施中非常的艱辛和不易，但也是其嚴謹的設計流程和客戶專業的把控力度下相互間緊密協作下完成。項目於2020年初疫情最艱難的時刻完成，在這特殊時刻團隊和客戶以及施工共同把關打造出非常成績實屬不易，再次感謝ZAP團隊的努力和萬科團隊對該項目的把控與實施。
