更牽動了所有美國人的心
直至今日，911襲擊仍是世界上遇難人數最多，事發地點地標影響力最強，被媒體曝光最多的恐怖襲擊，有關911的信息被全世界的電視媒體轉播，911襲擊，不僅僅是一次恐怖襲擊，更是對全人類心理底線的一次挑戰。
甲殼蟲樂隊的元老之一Paul McCartnry是事件的見證人之一，事發時他正在紐約市，並在停靠在甘迺迪機場跑道的飛機裡目睹了整個事件，於是他在當年11月發行了單曲《Freedom》來回應911事件。
他在歌詞裡寫道：

To live in freedom

SUM41的Still Waiting『是一首流傳較廣的回應911襲擊的歌曲，發行於2002年的專輯《Does This Look Infected?》，歌曲用憤怒朋克的方式傳達了「這個世界會好嗎？」的態度，其中副歌歌詞如下：

My Chemical Romance可以說是一支因911事件而成立的樂隊，主唱Gerard因為目睹了911事件從而有了想把感受寫唱首歌的想法，於是他發跡組建了My Chemical Romance並寫了歌曲《Skylines And Turnstiles》（天際線與旋轉門），而這首歌顯然表達了歌者對911事件最直觀的感受，那就是悲觀，以及如何面對之後的人生。

美國老牌樂隊Fleetwood Mac也在2003年的專輯《Say You Will》中發表了名為「Illume (9/11)「的歌曲來表達對911事件的感受，這首歌裡沒有闡述任何大道理，而是描寫面對911事件最直觀的感受。
