In her sports career, Yang Yang has won 34 world championships, ranking first among the world's female short track speed skaters, including China's first-ever gold medal in Winter Olympics in 2002. After leaving the rink, Yang Yang continued to perform brilliantly. In 2010, she became the first Chinese retired athlete to serve as a member of the International Olympic Committee.
