The adjective 「Classico」 is added by ministerial decreeto distinguish the original Chianti from the wine made outside the territorydelimited in 1716.

Chianti Classico obtains DOCG status (Controlled andGuaranteed Denomination of Origin), the highest recognition for premium ItalianWines.

Chianti Classico becomes an independent DOCG.

A change to an Italian law, it bans the production ofChianti wine in Chianti Classico production zone.

The assembly of the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classicomembers approves a set of changes to production regulations leading to anauthentic revamping of the denomination. Gran Selezione is born.
葡萄酒協會基安蒂經典成員確認批准了一系列的生產法規的改變，進行了一場真正的產區生產技術改進及革新。經典基安蒂特級精選由此誕生。
經典基安帝DOCG產區下轄9個子產區，其中4個完全屬於其管轄之內，分別是卡斯特裡納（Castellina in Chianti）、拉達（Radda inChianti）、佳奧利（Gaiole in Chianti）和格裡弗（Greve in Chianti），其餘5個部分屬於經典基安帝DOCG產區，分別是Tavarnelle in Valdi Pesa、San Casciano in Val diPesa、Barberino Val d』Elsa、Poggibonsi和Castelnuovo Berardenga
