find 和find out，大致都有「發現」「找到」這樣的含義，所以很多同學分不清它們的用法，考試丟分。
1.find，是和「look for」相對而言的。我們知道，look for是「尋找」，強調「找的過程」，那麼find就是強調「找的結果---找到了，或者沒找到」。
例如，Ilooked for my key everywhere,and I found it in my pocket.我到處找我的鑰匙，最後我在衣袋裡找到了它。
2.find out，意思是「查出、找出」、「搞清楚」、「弄明白」。包含兩層含義：
一是這個「查出、找出」、「搞清楚」、「弄明白」的動作，要經過「研究、調查理解、分析計算、詢問」的過程；
二是這個「查出、找出」、「搞清楚」、「弄明白」的東西，往往是一種「無形的、隱藏的」事物。
例如，
1)Can you find outwhen the early plane will fly?你能查一下早班飛機什麼時候起飛嗎？（飛機什麼時候起飛，是一個隱藏的信息，需要一個查詢或者詢問或者調查的過程）
2)Read the story and find outthe answer to this question.閱讀這個故事，找出問題的答案。（問題的答案，是隱藏在故事中的，需要經過理解或推理的過程）
3)We shall find outthe truth early or late. 我們遲早會查出真相。（真相是被隱藏起來的，需要一個探索、偵查、推理等過程）
