今天我們隨便來聊點什麼吧，看朋友圈有些寶媽已經給孩子安排上棉衣棉褲了，可廣東的小朋友還在穿短袖當中，大家不要羨慕呀，因為冷的日子馬上就要來了。
降溫後，抗寒的必備武器是什麼？沒錯，就是秋褲，那「秋褲」英文該怎麼說呢？不要按照老套路說成了「autumn pants」哦，正確的表達應該是「long underpants 」。
Underpants的意思是內衣褲，即：
Underpants are a piece of underwear which have two holes to put your legs through and elastic around the top to hold them up around your waist or hips.
外國人更多地將其比喻成任何貼身衣物，這就包括內衣內褲，而大概只有中國人才會穿的秋衣秋褲，也是比較貼身的，是為了防寒，所以可以用「 long underpants」來表示。
例句：
Half of men admit that their underpants are their oldest item of clothing.
一半的男人承認他們的內褲是他們最舊的衣物。

其實在英文中，你用「long underpants」向外國解釋秋褲時，有些人也許能理解有些人可能不理解，那我們就可以更進一步的進化這個表達，如下面這兩個：
1、thermal underpants
underpants是「內衣褲」，那thermal是什麼意思呢？Thermal means relating to or caused by heat or by changes in temperature. 即熱的； 由熱引起的； 由溫度變化引起的。
如：thermal power stations.熱電站。
而這裡就必須要說的是：Thermal clothes are specially designed to keep you warm in cold weather. 即保暖的 (衣服)
My feet were like blocks of ice despite the thermal socks.
我的雙腳儘管穿著保暖襪，還是像冰塊。
所以我們就能理解了，thermal underpants是指能保暖的貼身內衣褲，這可不就是我們說的秋衣秋褲無疑了。
It's so cold I'm wearing two pairs of thermals.
太冷了，我穿了兩條秋褲。
2、Long johns
嗯？你可能會好奇，大白為何要拿出這樣一個表達來？Long是「長的」，johns是人名，那Long johns是啥意思呢？
這個嘛就要追溯到詞源了，這是一個俚語，說起它就不得不提約翰·L·沙利文，這是一位19世紀美國拳擊手，據說他出名並不是因為他的拳法有多厲害，而是因為異於常人的造型，他出場總是喜歡赤裸著上身，穿著long underpants打比賽，於是人們只要看到長秋褲就會想起他，慢慢地就將Long johns稱之為「秋褲」了。
理解成了「秋褲」意思，這個是不是很形象呢？你記住了嗎？
但需要說明的是Long johns are warm underpants with long legs. 就是指保暖長內褲 。
