2018 marks the 40th anniversary of Jiangsu’s international friendship city relations. To celebrate this, the month of exchanges and cooperation in commemorating the anniversary started Monday in Nanjing. In the coming month, many events will be held to celebrate the anniversary with delegations from all around the world.
Hosted by Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, the month of exchanges and cooperation welcomes 36 delegations from 22 countries including the US, Japan, Germany and Switzerland.
The celebration first kicked off with the Exhibition of 40 Years』 Development of Jiangsu’s International Friendship City Relations held at Nanjing Library. Vice Governor Guo Yuanqiang attended the opening ceremony for the exhibition.
During the ceremony, Guo also presented the medal of friendship to the representatives of the delegation.
After the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the delegation went to Nanjing Yuzui Wetland Park to participate the unveiling ceremony of Friendship Forest.
Fei Shaoyun, director-general of the foreign affairs office of the people's government of Jiangsu province, said that the initial intention of choosing camphor trees to grow friendship forest is to hope that our friendship will be as evergreen as camphor trees.
One thing that is quite interesting is that a QR code was hanged on each tree. Once you scan the QR code, everything about the owner of tree and an introduction of the friendship between that city and Jiangsu will be on your phone.
