文：Jane 圖：Jane 攝於2016年9月11日Cambridge Carnival 劍橋嘉年華是非洲傳統的一個色彩繽紛的喜慶節日。最奪人眼球的當屬大型的豔服表演遊行，浮誇耀眼的服飾張揚著節日的喜慶，伴隨著非洲特色的節奏感音樂，豔舞整個劍橋地區。
2017年第25屆劍橋嘉年華將於9月10日舉行，欣賞彩裝遊行之餘，還可以享受國際美食，以及見識和購買來自世界各地的手工藝品。更有兩個大型音樂舞臺表演，其中國際舞臺將展示世界音樂、雷蓋（Reggae）和索克（Soca）音樂；觀賞舞臺則用於遊行服裝的評選。兒童節目則有臉部彩繪、踩高蹺、藝術手工藝品等。
重頭戲- 彩裝遊行（Costume Parade ）包括Steel Bands 鋼鼓樂隊和服裝競賽。遊行從下午12:30到4點，路線約1.3英裡，在Blackstone Street (查爾斯河River Street 和 Western Avenue 附近)開始遊行，在River Street 沿著Mass Ave行進到Central Square，繼續到Main Street，最後在Kendall Square靠近MIT（Technology Square in the foreground of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ）處結束。

DirectionsBy Public Transportation From Boston by subway (Kendall Square comes first), take the MBTA Red Line to Kendall Square (for the festival) or one further stop to the Central Square stop (for the parade). By Car Street Closings: Main Street will be closed from Vassar Street to Broadway and Ames Street from just pass the MIT Hospital to Broadway will be closed from 7am- 10pm. Main Street will be closed from Mass Avenue (Central Square) to Vassar Street from 8am- 8pm. River Street will be closed from 12:30-4pm for the parade. Massachusetts Avenue will be closed on the North side from 12:30-4pm for the parade. Parking is limited and metered. Cambridgeside Galleria (about a 10 minute walk) has paid parking, as well.

ScheduleWe are mixing it up this year again! Two music stages boast a powerful lineup of local bands and DJs. The International Stage will feature World Music, Reggae, and Soca. The Viewing Stage is where the costume groups are presented formally in front of a team of judges. Prior to the judging, local DJs will spin their best Caribbean tunes. After the parade the Viewing Stage will feature live musical performances. Several steel bands and percussion groups will join the parade.
Costume Parade: 12:30 p.m. 4 p.m.The parade features steel bands and a costume competition. The route pans 1.3 miles and the procession kicks off between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. It will begin near the Charles River, at River Street and Blackstone Street, then it passes through Central Square along Massachusetts Avenue, continues up Main Street and ends in Kendall Square near MIT, Cambridge.
Viewing Stage: 1 p.m. 6 p.m.This stage is where the presentation before the judges takes place. We are mixing it up this year! Before and after the parade, we will have guest DJs. After the parade, we will have live music such as Caribbean Gospel, Soca, and Reggae music.
International Stage: 12 p.m. 6:30 p.m.Musical accompaniments have set the tone for worldwide carnival celebrations. We are mixing it up this year! On this stage, bands representing several islands and South American nations will provide the sounds of African, Caribbean, Calypso, Reggae, Garafuna, Haitian Roots music. We will also have guest DJs.
KidsFest: 12 p.m. 6 p.m.Activities for children ages 5 to 14 years will include face painting, stilt walking, arts and crafts, and other hands-on activities. The location is on Ames Street near Main Street in Kendall Square.
