彤嫿隨筆：《當我們還年輕》此歌由奧地利著名作曲家約翰·施特勞斯作曲，漢默斯頓填詞，是美國好萊塢1939年第11屆奧斯卡獲獎影片《翠堤春曉》中的一首插曲。《翠堤春曉》是一部描寫圓舞曲之王約翰·施特勞斯生活的故事片。在這部影片裡，施特勞斯愛上了一位女高音歌唱家，他們在一起生活時，那位歌唱家經常唱他寫的這首歌。由於此歌曲調很優美，便於記憶，又有這麼一個動人的情節，因此給觀眾的印象極為深刻。影片放映之後，此歌到處傳唱。
