scare譯為「驚嚇」；shit 表示「屎」，在口語中當某人被惹怒時常會說Shit！（真該死！真他媽的！），所以scare the shit out of sb.字面意思是「把某人的屎都嚇出來了」，引申為「嚇死某人了，嚇了某人一跳」。scare the shit out of sb.英語解釋為make somebody shocked or frightened very much。
