要想學好英語，提高閱讀能力是關鍵，要流利地閱讀，快速提高閱讀水平，必須要掌握這些Sight Words, 就是一些最常用、非常簡單的大約220單詞，包括 a, the, and, I, me 等。一年級結束後要求掌握大約120個，最好全部掌握。要求撇一眼就能認出、快速發音、理解詞義，但並不要求完全正確地拼寫出來。
Sight Words, 顧名思義，就是一入視覺就立即反應的詞彙。要求孩子必須能夠整體記憶。據說這些詞彙佔據了閱讀詞彙量的50%！有了這315詞，閱讀的文章中，你就有50%的單詞都認識，配合適當難度等級的書進行閱讀練習，就會極大地提高閱讀速度以及流利性，並進而有助於對內容的理解。
以下是按照級別列出的這些詞彙列表，由易到難，總數315個。
